Just saw the trailer. I am going to see it but I don't have super high expectations. I feel sorry for the guy playing Freddy because it is going to be so hard to top the original performance. The only reason Freddy was so great is because Robert Englund took a character that could have easily been laughable and was able to make him not only scary but one of the coolest horror movie monsters. I really wish they would stop with the remakes unless there is a really good reason to do it like an amazing new take on the movie (Rob Zombie doesn't count!!). I would rather see the original in the theaters again in 3D since that seems to be another big thing. Now that would be awesome. Tell me releasing the original at Halloween in 3D with some deleted scenes added in wouldn't attract the moviegoers!

I think it looks great. I love horror movies and I usually like the remakes. I say keep 'em coming. :)

I love the original and Robert Englund is legend, and remakes are usually terrible but..... the new actor playing Freddy is Jackie Earle Haley (of Watchmen & Little Children) he's a phenomenal actor and what I've seen of him in the trailer is amazing.  So, IMHO, this remake has the right to exist.  Unlike Friday the 13th, Prom Night, The Hills Have Eyes, Halloween, Halloween 2, House on Haunted Hill, Wicker Man....  I'm really hoping this remake doesnt join the above list of travesties.

Vanessa- I agree that the ones you listed are a complete waste of space. I didn't know that Prom Night was a remake though.

The original Prom Night was one of the many Jamie Lee Curtis flicks of the 80s.  Both were awful. :)

I hate Michael Bay!

They're making Freddy Krueger innocent in the killings of those children, which is suppose to gives him a motive for revenge? That sucks!

We all know Freddy Krueger killed those kids. That's what makes him disturbing. This is basic horror 101 people.

I kinda like the idea of him being innocent.  That would make what he does after being hunted down and killed unjustly by those parents "Karma"!  He got killed for being different, a fear deep inside of all of us.  As explained in a later movie he is disturbed because he was crazy from the start.  His mother being raped by all those patients at that mental institution produced a disturbed and crazy guy.  They just pushed him over the edge.  I like it.  It's different, but I like it!  The only thing that I might have a beef with is his appearance and voice.  Those are going to take some getting use to for sure.
