Good plot, a new twist on a missing husband.
first mystery - well done
I read a review about this title a couple of years ago and have had it on my reminder list since then. After I joined PBS, I put it on my wish list and then received it. After waiting for it for so long, I was delighted.
Boy was I wrong! I have no idea why I finished this maybe I kept hoping... It does enter the "among the worst I've read" list. I suppose with this review I'll never get rid of it, but perhaps I'll save another reader with some taste from suffering through a very painful few hours. Or maybe you'll want to see if I'm wrong. Please comment if you do happen to read it and agree or disagree with me.
The writing was stilted, the dialogue weak and shallow, the editing was truly non-existent. From blatant, frequent errors in punctuation (of all things) to plot contrivances that made no sense, it could have used an editor, any editor.
The characters were even more shallow and could have come from a bad soap opera. Their motivations were not believable. The climax was ridiculous. Ah well. I am moving on now. I just wish I knew who provided that original review. I'd certainly question him or her about what they were drinking or smoking when it was written.
