So, I tuned into "Reign" on the CW for about 30 seconds ... and am surprised not to find any commentary here, given the high quality of their dialogue :::cough cough:::

Anybody? devil

Not interested.  I paid no attention to when or where it was.

I will admit to watching most of the first episode. Some thing got me distracted and I never finished. I ended up erasing it without finishing it. Too many gigling teenage girls for me. I was interested to see the woman who played Anne of Green Gables in it. She was the Queen Mother. Bad I'm sure, as all the mothers of handsome princes are. And yeah, the costumes were pretty bad. It was like they were wearing prom dresses.

the woman who played green gables? are you talking about the black and white movie? I hate when customes/special effects are awful on any show, I'd rather they not be too outrageous and look believable than try to look awesome and you can see the outlines or whatever of the special effects. So no one has other mary tudor shows/books?

I watched the first episode.  Not impressed. It's definitely aimed at the teenage crowd.  It had the same feeling as many of the CW shows have, just set in another time period and no vampires (at least not yet). Although historically inaccurate I did like the costumes.

Ah, Megan Follows -- I didn't see her the first time.  I love Anne of Green Gables.

Seems like Reign would make a good HF drinking game...drink when something is historically inappropriate.

She's wearing polyester...

Well I am watching it because I'm a sucker for anything history related.  I have it on DVR and have only gotten to the first two episodes so far.  I think they are trying to capitalize on the popularity of The Tudors.  I never expected it to be accurate so I'm not dissapointed.  Though I wish they had paid more attention to the actual manner of dress of that era - those girls all look like thery're going to a 20th century prom.  My other quibbles are the distracting, and too modern, "background" music and the familiar forms of address - they're all calling each other by their first names when they would have been using titles even amoug family members.  But we have to remind ourselves that it's meant as entertainment, not a history lesson.
