My hubby and I will be celebrating our 30th anniversary soon and he has asked if I would like one of these.

I am seriously considering getting one or the other.  Could I get some input from those of you who have either

one of them.   Which is better overall?  Which has the easiest to read screen, etc.   Anything that you can tell me will

be greatly appreciated.   Help me decide if I want one or not.

Thanks in advance.

The black and white Nook has the same screen technology as the Kindle.

The Nook usually works with library books.  Kindle has announced that it is going to start library books.  This kinda has to do with what books you read and where you want to get them from.  Kindle does lock you in to Amazon.

I'm personally not comfortable reading the color Nook for long time periods.  While the color has fun apps, it's not as easy on the eyes.

This also has to do with if you want to write notes on the text.  If you are taking notes, such as for a class, the Kindle has a keypad.  The Nook has this touch screen keypad that I'd not be happy taking many notes with.

I have the Nook, but if the Kindle had library book access when we purchased, I would have considered it.  I have heard some rumor that the kindle 3g access also allows small personal uses such as checking your email.  I have not verified that, but would appreciate that ability, as I do not have a data plan on my phone.

All things beginning to be equal between the 2, I think that the price might be the deciding factor.  I think you can try out both in retail locations.  The nook at B&N (and Walmart), and the Kindle at Best Buy (I think).  Maybe go try them out(?).

I love the Kindle wifi. When I tried out a Nook at the store, didn't like that bar at the bottom.  I would say no reader is perfect. But one thing I love about my kindle, I can buy my books anywhere and them email them to the kindle. No need to ever hook it up to my computer to transfer books. Hopefully that will also be the case with library books, wireless delivery. SO easy!

I have a regular Black and white Nook - and love it!  I bought the model with wi-fi access.   I also bought the Nook .because I wanted to be able to access

library e-books.  I really like it!    With this model,  you can download books straight onto your nook without hooking it up to your computer.

I agree with Angie, you might go to the retail stores and check them out to see which one you like better.   =)

Amazon just anounced Kindle With & Without the advertising will be sold a Walmarts!  And I know Nooks have been sold at walmart for awhile!  Go check them out before you buy!   Nooks Kindles & Sonys are also sold at Best Buy.  So that 2 places you can look & handle them before you buy!    NO Amazon does Not lock you into just buying books from them!  I got books thru several sites & used Calibre to put them on my Kindle!

You might also want to consider a Tablet!  You can download the Android Apps from both Amazon & B&N & Sony Plus any other site you like to get ebooks from!
