OK, My DH thinking he was doing something wonderful, bought me a Nook for my birthday. I REALLY dont like to read ebooks, but in reading the manual i found i supposedly can "loan" ebooks from the library. Has anyone done this? Do i have to go to the library, or should i be able to download the book over the internet?

I have it all hooked up with our Wifi but when i go to the library site and try and get the book nothing happens, and it moves SO SLOWWWWW!!.

You should be able to download the book.

Some of the folks in the eBook forum might have additional suggestions: http://www.paperbackswap.com/EBook-Readers/forum/131/

Enjoy your new toy ;-)

Yes, you can download straight from the library's website! I do it all of the time on mine. :) You'll need to download Adobe Digital Editions software. It's free, just google it. Then when you download the ebook from the website, you can open it in ADE. Plug your Nook into the computer and your nook will then show up as a device in ADE and you can just drag and drop it onto the nook. It's very easy and fast once you've done it once.

Make SURE to use the same email address when installing ADE as you used for your B&N account. Otherwise, there will be a problem registering your nook in ADE and I've heard it will cause terrible headaches.

THanks Kelly and Elizabeth. I posted my question in teh e-reader forum and they told me the same thing. so i downloaded ADE and was able to transfer one book but not another one. Not sure why it let me download it to ADE but would not let me transfer to the Nook. I will keep playing with it,
