Norby is the cutest robot ever created, and this is the fine debut of Janet and Isaac Asimov as a writing team. Juvenile fiction that is smart, funny, and literate is in short supply, and this is one of the best ones ever.

Janet and Isaac Asimov's light takeoff on the 3 Laws of Robotics. Space opera with a proto-type robot similar to R2D2 as the main character. . .
The robot's frame is built into a keg of 'Norb's Nails', so his name is Norby

It was just a dusty, old tin-can of a robot - with no guarantee. But Jeff only needed it to teach him Martian Colony Swahili before he got expelled from the Space Academy.

Jeff Wells didn't really know what he had purchased.

He didn't realize that the robot had been constructed by a genius half a century ago - from the salvaged parts of a damaged alien spacecraft.

He didn't know about the robot's amazing technological skills - such as antigrav and a strange capacity for human emotions - among other things.

Jeff Wells didn't really know what he was getting himself into....

This book was previously published as two titles, Norby the Mixed-Up Robot and Norby's Other Secret.

There is no way to give this series enough stars. I am so glad that I found it. The type may get redundant in his rehashing things you already know from the first few books but very much wroth the read.
