I grew up watching this beautiful lady sing on the Lawrence Welk show and always imagined that her life was as lovely as the songs she sang and the costumes she wore. However, that is not the case. Coming from abject poverty and having alcoholic parents, she faced many difficult challenges and worked hard to make a good Christian life. After reading the book, I feel I know this lovely person a lot better, but wish it hadn't ended when it did. She needs to write an addendum, since this book is now over 30 years old.
