Quirky, cute; a fast, easy read. The book was evenly divided between Gil's relationship with his dogs, and Gil's relationships with his women (rather boring for me). I found myself speed-reading through the book, just to see if there was any point to it; it felt like some existentialist ramblings. But the last 1/4th of the book grabs you by the neck and holds you down till you finish. I think all of us dog lovers will recognize the types of dogs. The author really does nail down those personalities, both canine & human.

Well, this was cute... but not as cute as _Walking in Circles Before Lying Down_, but I suppose there are only so many things that you can pass on as cute and interesting tid-bits from dogs. Although, honestly, it was the narrator that spoiled the book for me. He wasn't very sympathetic... and neither was the main dog, Jimmy. I don't know... it was just sort of a disappointment after looking forward to reading it. I really loved WICBLD. Maybe if the narrator had been a woman... though, I did like how modern the book was, with mentions of Facebook, MySpace and I Can Haz Cheezburger...

Too much intra-species confusion for me. Plus the main human character is a jerk, and his canine companion isn't far behind, so not much sympathy generated.

This is a really good book for dog lovers. It has a good ending so be sure to finish the entire book or you will miss out.
