This thread is for stuff that you've done that you need not do again lol.

Mine:

Note to self:  Make sure you are on YOUR OWN Amazon account when buying erotica for your Kindle and not your mother's account!

She doesn't have internet so I find her free inspirational or Christian books and she comes to my house to download them. I saw the cover of the book she was reading and asked her if it was a "naughty" book, she said yes. I told her I would delete it and she said she was reading it now and "wanted to see how it ends".  LOL!

I made the hubby get his own Amazon account for his Ipad for this very reason! Although it does cross TMI when your mother asks you have you read that Grey book.

They sell them at my Costco, which isn't all that shocking.  But when I was there last week, the woman ahead of me, in about her 60's, was buying the 50 Shades books, and only that. So:

1. It's Costco.  You go to a giant warehouse store and that's all you can find?  I go in for milk and come out with $100 worth of stuff!  Were you in a hurry to get home or something?
2. Since it's Costco - this purchase is on your permanent record! (remember those from school) LOL!  I gotta think if you're a frequent erotica buyer, you don't care about that.  But if you're a frequent erotica buyer, you probably aren't buying 50 Shades.  At Costco!
3. Please tell me the liberal return policy had nothing to do with this!

It's the fact that you can buy it at Costco or Kroger that makes this book ok as opposed to those you have to go to the bookstore or order online, becasue you can't buy porn at Kroger.wink

They have them at my Kroger, but you have to know where they are at and aren't facing the general public. I just rolled my eyes when I saw them. You can't carry Lisa Kleypas's latest but you can care the latest "erotica"??? WTF?/?

When I first saw them at Costco, they were on the end of the table, facing out into the main aisle.  This is where they usually place the most recent releases, and absolutely everyone walks up the main entry aisle.  Since I try to avoid the book tables (see Mt. TBR), I haven't noticed them since.

That's hilarious.  My mother made a comment recently about being disappointed that my step-father can't take the little blue pills because of his heart problem. I so did not need to hear that.

I was at Cosco Monday night. They had half the book table devoted to those Gray books.   I personally have no interest in readign them. I've been reading erotica and bdsm books for years. It's nothing new to get excited over.

Hey Cyndi, just because mom is in her 80's doesn't mean she doesn't appreciate a little smut in her life. ;)

My friend's mom said she read the books but "skipped over the dirty parts." What was left???

Also, my daughter was babysitting a 9 year old and saw the book in her purse. She said she had been hearing all about that book and wondered if she could read it when my daughter was done!! Ummmm. No.

LOL Jessica

Jenny, I lend my mother-in-law my regular romance books and she says she skips the sex scenes but  they are much tamer then my erotica lol.

I've seen Fifty in BJ's right as you walk in the door.

Talking about Fifty, I'm listening to it on audio, (needed something different since I just finished The Hunger Games and Chasing Fire) and the person reading it sounds like a teenager!

I recently had MEN bring it up in back-to-school meetings! The boss referenced it - can't remember in reference to what, I was too stunned to hear it from the front.   Or a colleague said: "Went to a meeting and 4 women near me had the book in their purses. Must be a good one." They all jumped in to discuss it.

Yes, ok, I may discuss erotica with my husband but not in a mixed group at school!

50 shades in particular - I read the first 2 chapters and was so bored by that 20-something ninny. Anybody else feel that way?

Too funny.  When my mom was still alive, she, my SIL and I would often trade books.  Some of the books that passed between us were pretty racy stuff, although nothing like the erotica that is so prevalent these days.  Still, there were a few books I'd read - with great pleasure, mind you - that I had to consciously NOT think about my mom having read and liked enough to pass it on.  Parents - sex - not.  LOL

THE worst, though, was when my uncle insisted on telling me, in detail, about the stash of dirty books and magazines my grandfather used to keep stashed in the barn.  I would put my fingers in my ears and sing out loud LA-LA-LA-LA but my uncle kept right on with his stories.  (Cue all over body shiver!)
