I had marked it received. The cover is almost completely removed from the spine. What can I do (other than contact the member) about it?

I am very interested in this answer.  I had something similar happen.  In my situation, I marked it received that I noticed severe stains in the back half of the book.  Thus sender had to know it was way unpostable.  I even PM'd the sender and still nothing.

I marked one received and then when reading it noticed that it had lots of food stains in it. Yack.

Never heard back from sender neither

Yeah, I PM'd the person so hopefully they make it right. I can give them a visual if needed as well. I learned very quickly that I need to examine my books better upon arrival.

Sorry to hear about that, Erin. Yes, you can PM the sender but it is really important to inspect the book prior to marking it received to avoid this situation.

I hope the sender is willing to work with you and it all works out well.

I had a similar situation, a few pages were ripped out of the middle of the book.  Fortunately, there was another, smaller issue that was easier to catch and I'd already marked it RWP.

Other than sending a PM to the sender there is really nothing that you can do as you have already marked it received.  This is why it is crucial to throroughly inspect the book before marking it received.

I had this happen once, and I PM'd the sender and she was very nice, she gave my credit back.  It's worth a shot!

I'm glad the user gave your credit back Erin.  That was very honorable of them.  My sender is still ignoring me.

Glad you got your credit back. I had that happen once--I noticed a few days after getting the book that there was some staining in it. I never PM'd the sender because I figured it was my own fault for not checking the book out BEFORE I marked it as received. I let it be my lesson to myself and I now inspect books carefully before marking it received. If it had only been a day or two I probably would have PM'd them, but as it was a few days, it didn't feel right to me to PM about it that far after the fact.
