Awful situation in Boston as a result of a couple of bombs during the marathon. Hope everybody here is okay as well as their families!!!!

Thanks for starting this. I had a rather stressful afternoon and couldn't follow much until I got home. Terrible. The boss is pretty heartsick, he's been in a few of these marathons (I know he's done NY, not sure about Boston).

My nephew's wife ran it last year. It's weird because last year, it was blazing hot on the day of the marathon and the ornganizers offered to let anyone who didn't want to run that day keep their number and run it this year instead.  Being from Florida, she was used to running in the heat, so she went ahead and ran, but her time was right about the time the explosions went off this year.  .

What a senseless day.  My heart goes out to everyone there.

I have a friend that crossed the finish line about 30 sec before the explosions.  She's OK, just shook up.  She ran the last part of the race with a guy that helped her keep her pace up as she was getting really tired.  She doesn't want to think where she might have been if not for him.

Oh Donna - how fortunate for her. That could've been awful!

Did anyone see on the national news tonight that apparently the creep that did this studied last year's race? The explosions were timed for that point of maximum numbers of runners in the finish line area. Such a senseless tragedy - and any words I have are pathetically inadequate.

Chechnian terrorists ... I'll always think of Beslan, and shiver ...
