I just saw the movie "Anonymous" and was wondering if anyone here on the Forum has seen it?  The premise of the movie is that someone else was the author of William Shakespeare's body of works and it presents some really interesting but probably unlikely alternative historical facts.  I loved the movie, especially Derek Jacobi as the prologue.  Any thoughts from anyone else?

I haven't seen it, but would like to.  I know that some purists are all up in arms about it.  Love Derek Jacobi.

I can't wait to see it.  See, I take my historical movies with a healthy dose of salt-just like my hf.  Derek Jacobi?  Longtime crush of mine-since I watched him play Hamlet at the RSC in Bath(in high school!).

I do not expect that much out of period movies either.  But I know I drive my family insane when I scoff and roll my eyes, so I usually watch them alone so I can talk to the TV screen.surprise

Jan:   How wonderful to have seen him act live and in person.  What a thrill that would be for me too!

Letty watch my period movies alone as well-for the same reason.

Cheryl-seeing the Royal Shakespeare Company was an absolute thrill.  Theater in Avon(NOT Bath as mentioned above-d'uh!) and London.  If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend.  Big name stars can come out and "play" too.  My not-so-secret-crush Sean Bean apparently played a dead on(sorry-pun....) Hamlet a few summers ago, which I would have loved to have seen.....
