Small update - got a call from my OB's staff about the ultrasound results. They want me to go in at 28 weeks for a repeat scan to check a couple of things that were concerning on the original scan. Monkey is OK, no worries there, thank the stars!! Everything looks on track and great with measurements and she said my quad screen came back negative for anything. So I'm out of the woods there. But my placenta is a bit too low for comfort without further monitoring and I have an abundance of amniotic fluid. Now, I wasn't so surprised about the fluid. My last two pregnancies were the same, but not so much that it was a concern...so that's weird. And the placenta isn't a previa, which is the automatic c-section situation and there's plenty of time for it to move up and out of the way. So I'm trying to remain hopeful it'll move and my fluids aren't a big deal. Anybody else go through something similar?

-------------------------------------------------------------------

So I'm 20 weeks now (tomorrow) and will be having my "big" ultrasound in the morning. EEK! I'm so excited to see him/her! We're going Team Green though, so I won't find out gender tomorrow, but I'm super excited to have a long peek at baby and make sure everything's just right.

We also finally decided on names. Whew!! If it's a girl, we'll have a Claire Harmony. If it's a boy, we'll have a Sawyer James. Sooo glad that's settled, lol!

Claire Harmony is actually the name that DH insisted on. It's funny because I fought for Claire when we were pregnant with our youngest (boy) and DH was hesitant. DS ended up being a boy, so it didn't matter. This go around, DH came up with the middle name and would not budge for anything on the full name. And I really love it, too. So yay! :) Claire is my grandmother's middle name also, so bonus!

Sawyer James was my pick and DH finally told me that he liked it. He'd vetoed EVERY last boy name I came up with, but finally agreed to this one. I just love Sawyer and James is a family name on both of our families' sides. If there are any other LOST freaks fans out there like me, you'll probably get a little chuckle out of the name. I was hesitant to go with James because of the correlation, but I got over it. :)

Feeling great though, getting to the YMCA more now that I have my energy back. I am having freakishly long braxton hicks contractions (like half hour long!) but my OB said it was ok as long as I'm not overdoing it and they don't get painful.

If I can figure out how to post pics, I'll get some of the u/s pictures up tomorrow sometime. :)

How exciting!  From henceforth, I shall call the green baby "Clawyer" until we know what it is. wink Congratulations on making it safely to the 20 week milestone and good luck at the u/s!

Clawyer - OMG no! LOL!! How about just Bean or Monkey or Sprout? LOL! (eta - DD was "fuzzball" the whole pregnancy because we were Team Green then, too, and DH was shocked at the very first ultrasound ~ 8 wks when it just looked like a bunch of fuzz. LOL)

Thank you though! I'm super nervous and will feel so much better after I see everything's looking good. I did my quad-screen last week and haven't had any phone calls from the doctor's office, so I'm taking that as "no news = good news" on that front. :) With DD having unexplained learning disabilities/delays and then two back-to-back pregnancy losses, I'm a mess of nerves right now! :)

I do love the names.  I went through a short period of wanting to name DS Emily Claire if he had been a girl.  One of my friends used that name for her daughter and they ended up calling her E-Claire all the time!  Once I heard that, I was glad DS was a boy!

Somehow, I saddled both of my kids with going by their middle names, and not even their whole middle names, but a variation of it.  Katie is Mary Kathryn and Drew is Martin Andrew.   When he was little and you asked him what his whole name was, he would say "Martin AND Drew Hxxxx"   Katie is struggling with what to do with her name after she gets married.  Her first and middle names are her grandmothers' first names, and she doesn't want to lose her maiden name completely.  She doesn't want to be hyphenated either. I've suggested that she combine Mary and Kathryn to one word and be MaryKathryn Hxxxx Cxxxxx. She's considered dropping the Mary, but if she does that, to be fair, she said she would drop Kathryn too and just be Katie Hxxxxx Cxxxxx.  She's been told that whatever she registers with the Social Security Adminstration after she is married effectively becomes her "legal" name.  It doesn't matter what she does....she'll always be Mary Kathryn, K-K, Mary Bathroom, or Katie-Boo to us!

Christa, that is a tough one! See, my oldest son is a Jr. His bio-dad named him and INSISTED on the name. I stupidly agreed. I HATE his birth name, but we've always called him JJ - even ordered his SS card as JJ <lastname> Jr. instead of his birth name. But it's been one frustrating journey, let me tell ya. EVERYTHING is Juan this, Juan that (his first name). I can't imagine the confusion it must have been for you guys having two kiddos going by middle names, LOL!

When I got married, my dad had just died and I could not fathom giving up my maiden name. I also didn't want to completely "change" my name by dropping my middle name, if that makes sense. So I just gave myself a second middle name and solved both problems. :) So now I'm Kelly Denise <maiden> <married>. I've had to correct only one business that hyphenated my maiden and married names, but it's been surprisingly easy to have two middle names!

So I would probably just add the maiden as a second middle in your daughter's case. That way she still keeps her name she's been all of these years (and keeps the family names). :)

I agree with Kelly. I actually hyphenate, but if I had it to do over again, I'd just go with a double barrelled last name with no hyphen.

LOL Christa! I'm here now! :) The ultrasound was fabulous. Baby Monkey was squirming and moving about and we got to see him/her opening and closing their mouth. Very cool! Everything looks good, all organs and parts seem to be there and she said Monkey is measuring about 12 oz and about the size of a can of pop (and weight). The measurements showed a 9/30 due date, but she said that my official 10/4 due date was probably more accurate and my OB won't change it. Which is nice, because it gives me a few days extra before they start talking induction. ;)

And the profile pic has me crackin' up. DH said it looks like a monkey, sooo...Monkey it is! :) Hehehe

Arg, tried to post pics, but it's not letting me. I have a friend over with her brood of kiddos, so I'll try later tonight - promise! :)

OMG !! Such fun! A God-given miracle - every time! The little Monkey is gorgeous/handsome!

Love, love, love the names, Kelly! One of the top choices for my granddaughter was Kathryn Claire (which I really love). She ended up as Lilly Anne - and that suits her, so all is well on that front.

I did a variation of what you did re: maiden/married names. For all legal purposes, I use my maiden name as my middle name, but my whole & complete name is Kelly Robin Bxxxx Pxxxx. I felt strongly about maintaining my maiden name in some fashion as a sign of respect to my folks and recognition of my identity; but, like you, I didn't want to do the whole hyphenated thing.

And ... I'm only "Kelly Robin" to an uncle on my mom's side; an aunt on my dad's side; my daughter when she is exasperated w/ me ... and, of course, occasionally Linda will use it when she especially needs my attention!

So happy for you, Kelly E!

Kelly E, your widdle Monkey is so precious!!  Thank you for sharing your 'pics'....man, it makes me feel old!  I had DD when ultrasounds were considered only for problem pregnancies.  What fun to see him/her now!

You cracked me up when you said your DH was worried about the Monkey aspect...

I'm so happy for you all!  Are the other monkies getting excited yet?

Thanks, everyone! I'm over the moon excited and sooo relieved to have been able to see that everything is looking just great. :)

Kelly, both Katherine and Lily were on my name list for a girl! Love them. I really, really liked Katherine as I wanted a Kate. But DH said he wanted a Katie and we were both unwilling to budge, so it got nixed. So sad! :) But I do love Claire and super duper excited that Monkey might be a girl. I'm trying to picture and prepare myself for another boy though, just in case! It would be really fun to have another crazy boy in the house, but I can't help but get really excited at the prospect of another princess. I ALMOST caved and just found out, but I knew I'd have been mad at myself so I didn't. :)

Vicky, my DH is still talking about that picture - hahaha! He even suggested that it might be an arm up behind the head that's causing the giant nose/mouth effect. LOL! I keep telling him that Monkey was moving a lot and not once during the u/s did I think "Oh wow, that looks like a monkey's head!" So it has to be just a crazy picture. :) He's sooo hilarious with stuff like this.

Our other monkeys are really excited. Our daughter (4) now gets that baby has to grow bigger to come out. She tells DH baby has to "get bigger and bigger and bigger. And mommy's tummy, too." LOL! And she's REALLY taken to my pregnancy books. She'll flip through them until she gets to the diagrams of how big baby is, and of how baby sits in the tummy and go "Awwwwwww!!! Sooo CUTE!" at every one. LOL! I asked her two nights ago if when she grew up she wanted to be a person that helps get babies out when they're ready to be born and she went nuts at the idea! Her eyes lit up and she was ALL smiles and excitement. She always migrates to babies in waiting rooms and gets upset if they're crying, so I'm not surprised she's so excited! I might have a little midwife/OB on my hands here, lol! :)

Our 2yo son doesn't think about the baby too much, unless he's jumping or crawling on me and then he says "Oh, watch out Mommy? Baby in there?" LOL! I think my teen son is just plain anxious about it. He doesn't say much and when I asked him if he was thinking boy or girl he said "Eh...I don't know." He knows it's going to get hectic around here when Monkey comes, so I think he's just not too excited right now. LOL, poor kiddo. He was an only child for 12 years and now there's kids all over. :) He has a car and a job now though and rarely home between work and school and his FFA club. I think it'll be easier on him to not be stuck in the house all of the time this go-round. He loves DD and DS dearly, but I think his patience just runs on the low side. :)

Kelly, I don't know what any of that means ... but I'm thinking about you and am delighted that you have such a great team monitoring everything that needs to be monitored!
