Well, not quite on my way yet, but I will be in 10 days!  I have just been awarded a new project and the kickoff meeting is in London!  And the actual work will start in Puento Arena, Chile!  How cool is that?  That is the very southern tip of Chile...like, you can practically see Antartica from there.  I've never been to London or to South America so I'm super excited about it.  And my family is excited as well...they all think they are going to get to tag along.  I won't have to be gone for long periods...just a week here and there.  So that's what I'll be working on for the next 2.5 years, unless a cool promotion comes along ;)

This will be a pretty quick trip...just a few days...so no real time for sightseeing. But maybe I'll get to go back, take DH with me and we'll stay an extra couple of days.  Just can't do that this time on such short notice.

Now my other crisis is that I don't have enough books I REALLY want to read on my Kindle to last me for a week of traveling.  I may have to break down and buy Lionheart for Kindle....that should do me for the week!

Oh!  Christa how exciting!!!  I am thrilled for you and a promotion as well.  Congratulations!    Will you have any time to sight see?

How fun, Christa!  Enjoy, and we'll be waiting to hear all about whatever you do manage to squeeze in. :)

If it were me, I'd have the same problem about "not enough to read that I really want to".  Lots of freebies/cheapies that are only somewhat interesting.

Color me green but also really happy for you.  Not a sight seeing tip-but a food tip.  If you are near-check out the food stalls at Harrods-amazing, amazing stuff there!

Thanks for the nice thoughts.  Some good news...two of the five books I really want to read next are available for check-out as Kindle books from one of the library systems I can use!  Yay!  But Lionheart is not one of them...yet... maybe they will get added soon.

Christa, one thing to consider about Lionheart and the kindle. You will need that list of characters at the front of the book (I'm assuming there are maps and other stuff as well that I didn't get in the ARC). Unless you've managed to find a way to navigate back and forth with the kindle I would recommend a dead tree version of the book.

Christa:  How wonderful for you...I'm super jealous though.  Have safe travels and lots of good reading time; maybe some sightseeing time as well.  Be sure to tell us ALL about it!!

I know what you mean Vicky! When I worked at the Denver City Jail, I had two visitors from England  - on different occasions-but do you think they could ever send me there?? Nooooo!

Yeah -- they should have at least offered you a short-term stay in a London jail!!

Well, I have a very generous client!  I was going to be the cheapo contractor that I am trained to be and find a reasonable rate on a hotel, and leave on Friday morning.  But no...he wants to stay at the Paddington Hilton right in downtown and walking distance to our office there.   And fly out on Saturday morning "just in case" we still have business to do on Friday.  So I might get a little sightseeing after all.  I have visions of stumbling on to a quaint little used book store that has stacks of EC books for $1 each.

Woohoo! Christa should be on her way today -right? How exciting for her and hopefully for us when she tells us about her trip on her return.

I'm hoping you don't get burned out with all the travel but somehow, I think you'll probably love it Christa!!

yes, I hope she pops on from there and gives us an update! being in England for us HF-ers is truly a trip to Mecca! I can remember my first trip, standing on Chaucer's grave....waaaaaaaaay cool. there are so many quick day trips she can take if she has a whole day...but I'm guessng she'll start with a visit to the Tower or Whitehall or St Paul's......but Stonehenge is about an hour south and Oxford is about an hour north....it's just so tough to choose, with limited time!

I would love for all of us to be able to journey there together with a special guide that takes us to the places in a book of our choosing....goodness, what would it be?

Colleen, EC is going to lead a William Marshall tour next summer I believe.  I believe SKP is planning a Welsh tour in the next few years.  So save your pennies ladies.

We would make up a great group.  H/F Hussies on tour. cool
