I must *chat* with someone or I will burst. These are seriously good fun to watch all over again, despite the cheesy sets. Currently the big Dream Curse is going on (started by the evil Angelique of course), and LOL at the dry ice they've got beside the doors with no walls - you can see the buckets if you look close enough.

We're also into the *Frankenstein* spin off and I was dying at Julia's working the controls in Dr. Lang's lab. I was rather reminded of this famous scene,

LOL  Cathy the cheesy sets didn't seem so cheesy in the 60's as I recall.  I watch them again 5-7 years ago they were on at 9:00 a.m. and I stumbled upon them they are so deliciously campy!

They're making a movie based on Dark Shadows.  It's a Tim Burton production, supposedly starring Johnny Dep.  I can't wait.

As cheesy as the sets are, the stories and acting is so good for the most part that I'm enjoying them immensely. I'm just glad the library had them or I'd never have been able to afford them.

I wonder what *part* of the series they'll chose to make the movie. They couldn't possibly cover much of anything in one two hour movie. And who is going to play Angelique? Quentin?

Here's the page from Internet Movie Database.

Dark Shadows

Looks like Johnny Depp is the only actor cast at this point.  But look at the writing credits: Dan Curtis.  Didn't he work on the original TV series??

ETA: I answered my own question.  Yes, he did!  And he died in 2006.  Hmmm...

Maybe it's just going to be the "beginning" of the story and there will be others going forward (hope, hope!)

Dan Curtis was the creator/main dude for the series so perhaps they're sticking close to the original. I hope I hope I hope.

Valli, do they ILL DVD's like they do books? You might ask, they are such a hoot. Gawd, the bright late 1960's dresses the ladies are finally starting to wear now that the epi's are in color. Maggie Evans had these floor length coulotte gaucho pants in the loudest multiple colors yesterday that had me rolling on the floor. Love the long fake eyelashes on heroines who just got out of bed as well cheeky

Have another set of these out from the lib and the ghost of Quentin is seriously haunting the young kids (who are annoying as hell). I have to share the latest bit player who has showed up for a couple of episodes. Can you place him?

It looks like the professor from the Back to Future series.

It looks like Abe Vigoda...he was on Barney Miller, and then had his own spin-off show, Fish.

Vicky takes the prize. Yes, it's Abe. He only got two epis before Quentin scared him to death.

LOL...I find that hilarious, as there are tons of "rumors" online that he's dead.

Cathy, do you think the color episodes make the series lose something? I haven't gotten to the color ones yet, but I love the B&W atmosphere by default anyway.

Karla, I don't feel they loose anything at all. Actually, the 1960's clothing is even more fun in living color.  Wait until you see Maggie Evan's multi colored flare pantscool

I was in college during the run of this series and was careful never to schedule a class when DS was on.

*rubs hands with glee*

Just picked up #13 of the DVD collection. Barnabas is using the e-ching wands to see what happened in 1895. First up, Quentin the prodgal son has just returned to Collinwood.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy.

And, he's from West Virginia, just in case you enjoy trivia in the morning. laugh
