Okay my HF Bookie friends: this coming year is going to be crazy.  I can see the crazy coming now.  So I'm asking for good vibes and positive thoughts from you all.  I honestly feel I'm too young to go stark raving mad.

We have good things happening, but they all have the potential to spawn problems, so...my stepdaughter is getting married in October, so you will probably get to hear Wedding Talk!  My daughter is ill again (frown) and so we've decided she needs to move back home.  This means we must remodel the house to give her accessibility (and to keep her cats away from my DH).  So you will probably hear some Construction Talk as well!  We want to get her moved by the end of June, when the lease on her apartment ends.

Not to mention me running around the state...this could be a crucial year in terms of funding for W.Va. libraries on a state level, and so I'm going to Charleston once a week this month alone. surprise (That's a 3.5 hour drive one way, for those of you keeping score).

Anyway, this place has been my refuge before, and I see it happening again.  laugh  Y'all just wish me luck, okay??

Awww, Vicky, luck always! I'm so sorry to hear your daughter is sick again. I will keep her, you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. All else will come together. It's the health of loved ones that's important.

Wishing you the grace to glide through all of the challenges - one day at a time!  Prayers for your daughter's return to good health.

Vicky - Brianna couldn't have a better caretaker and with your love and attention, I'm sure she will be well very soon! I understand the stress of doing that along with the travel, etc., but DH is very supportive and surely will be a big help (if he refuses - gasp- kick him out and let the kitties roam - lol). Weddings happen regardless - do what you can and let the bride to be take the helm. Life sure does have its ups and downs, doesn't it? Prayers are going out for you since I believe they work better than wishing you luck.......heart

Vicky,

Such a wonderful set of responses you have already received ... and I want to associate myself with every one of them! In addition to saying, "Me, too!" to the lovely comments you've already received, I want to remind you of what Christopher Robin said to Pooh ...

"Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."

You've got this, Kid! It's one step a time, one foot in front of the other, chewing that elephant one bite at a time.

And, of course, we all want to be in the know on everything - your daughter (praying for stronger health for her), the upcoming nuptials, the remodel (always fun, yes?) and the other things that roll along throughout the year! We're nothing if not great listeners!

I hate this travelling you are going to have to do so much of. Take care & don't let yourself get overly tired!

We're with you in spirit, every day!

Kelly (& Linda)

A girl can always count on her friends.  smiley  Thank you for your kindness, words of support and wisdom, and ...hey, where's the offer of unlimited wine and chocolate??

Love to you all...

Vicky --- Has your daughter ever lived with you and your current husband??  It seems to me that you have not been married an overly long time, but my memory is iffy at best.  If she has not, then I can imagine you might be feeling stress about your relationship with someone else moving into the house.  Especially someone with special needs.

As to a wedding for a step-daughter, I did that twice with a very nasty mother of the bride with which to deal.  David and I decided on the amount of money we were willing to expend, told our daughter what it was and let she and her mother fight out the rest.  It did not completely obviate nasty phone calls, but they were kept to a  minimum as our minds were made up and there was simply nothing to argue about.

Given all of this, I will keep you in my prayers as you traverse these potentially stressful times.  Also, BE CAREFUL doing all of that driving when you are tired and anxious!!!

Checking in from California to find Vicky asking us to help maintain her sanity. Really? Asking a bunch of "crazy ladies" (according to my husband) to keep you from going crazy. Hmmm.... So, I fear I have no words of wisdom...but if it's wine and chocolate you're after, I'm happy to indulge you as you face and conquer these challenges. I am very, very sorry to hear that your daughter is ill again -- you and she are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sending you hugs, good vibes, positive thoughts, and all the virtual chocolate and wine you want (the real stuff will have to wait until one of us makes a road trip)....

Vicky,

I second all of the good wishes & prayers listed above. Knowing you are a librarian,  reserve some audio books for your drive. When I was driving 3--8 hrs a day for wrk, I always had a hugh  supply. As you probably know, some books are better on audio. The Help was one. Also, the Chet&Bernie books were  always better on audio.

Best of luck, Vicky! Keeping you in my prayers. But remember: when all else fails, there's always liquor. Lots and lots of liquor.

Been in craziness, just not in a good way for a couple of years now. Take good care of yourself through all of this! Pampering & quiet times for yourself, along with tremendous good vibes from us. Thinking of you! Debbie

You all are the best!  I see a Crazy Support/Book group forming right here!  We will serve virtual wine and chocolate, talk about historical hunks and good reads, and occassionally mention the crazy. wink

Becky, we've been together about 11 years now, and it flew by!  DD lived here with us when we first moved here and then went away to college after about two years.  The remodeling job will give her (and us) privacy, and yet easy access to common spaces.

As for the wedding, my stepdaughter has no contact with her mother at all.  She's adopted me. smiley  She's such a sweetheart--she was genuinely shocked when I paid for her wedding dress!

Vicky --- That all sounds so positive.  With patience, I just know it will all work out very well.  We will keep the virtual wine flowing!!!

Having the right construction/remodeling team will also help ... and will also relieve a lot of stress!

Choose wisely, Vicky.
