Dear HF Friends!

Kelly E (Rainfall) & I have been exchanging personal messages over the past couple of days and I want to share with you all that she is on her way to being fine. She and her family are learning to live with the recent death of her Brother, Mikey and Kelly talks to her Mom daily - which is good for them both. Kelly is sorting out her "new normal" as one must do following a loss. She promises that she will be back with us soon.

In the meantime, she and her family are starting to prepare for and get excited about the new life they will be bringing into this world! Kelly is now at 33 weeks, all is progressing really well & she is on schedule for a normal, healthy delivery. So, with her permission, let's have some fun & share in the excitement of a new baby in our HF Family!

If this doesn't violate any PBS Game rules, Linda & I will give a credit OR a book on your WL (if we have it on our TBR) to the person who comes closest to guessing gender, due date & weight of Kelly's baby. (We'll draw a name or flip a coin in the event of a tie.)

Some advance information as you think about your guess:

Due date according to her doctors is October 4th. Based on current size, both doctor and ultra-sound tech are predicting a healthy baby in the 9 pound range!

Kelly's past history is:

#1 - boy (induced 2 wks early due to preterm labor) 7lbs 10oz 22"
#2 - girl (induced on due date) 8lbs 9oz 22"
#3 - boy (induced on due date) 8lbs 14oz 22"

Good luck!

Kelly

So very sorry to hear of Kelly's loss, but how delightful that new life is arriving to lessen her grief.  I predict that on September 30, Kelly will give birth to a baby girl weighing 8 pounds 8 ounces.

What an auspicious prediction that is, hro! That would be a great birth day & great weight ... and Kelly is "thinking pink" as hard as she can!

I was so sad to hear about Mikey, but am glad that Kelly is coping as well as possible and that everything is going well with baby number four! As a fellow October baby, I'm rooting for the baby to be a girl, born on October 6, weighing 9lbs 3oz. I know from personal experience that October 6 is an excellent birthday, and that this baby will be in very good company with the rest of us October babies. wink

Aimee, one of my brothers weighed 9 pounds, 3 ounces; born October 3rd !!

Although I'm a March baby, I do have to agree that October is a great month for birthdays!

Thanks, everyone, for all of your wishes and support through the past month and a half! It's been a rollercoaster, but I'm starting to find my new normal like Kelly said and I've got lots of distraction now. I just picked up reading again yesterday. I hadn't read a single thing since the accident (end of June) and I've missed that little trinket of calm it brings me. I've got loads and loads of things to do around the house though, before baby arrives, so I'll probably not be reading as much as I normally would be. I'll try to hang around more often though in the coming days.

My OB appointment went well yesterday. Monkey sounded good and I'm measuring good and doing well. My OB did bring up the subject of a c-section since my last baby had shoulder dystocia (got stuck behind pelvis during birth) but I'm going to fight that as much as possible. I'm hoping to avoid any kind of induction at all and just let baby decide on his/her birthday.

I'll be checking in here and there in between nesting and getting the house back in order. It'll be fun to see who here guesses correctly!

Baby boy, 9 lbs. 10 oz. Oct. 4 and if I win give the credit to Kelly!   My daughter had number four last December - a big, big boy who just didn't want to leave his comfortable bed.

How did I miss this thread?  I tell ya, I need to quit my job...devil

Anyway, Kelly you have been in my thoughts since the end of June--and I'm so happy for you and your family as you anticipate this new lovely arrival.  I'm going with a baby girl, Oct. 5, 9 lbs. 4 oz.

It's good to see you here again!

Thanks, everyone. :) I'm trying. Lots to distract me these days, so that's been VERY helpful.

It's fun to see everyone's predictions! Christa, 9 lbs 12 oz - OUCH!! LOL!

I had a dream last night that I had the baby, and it was a girl (yay!). And she only weighed 7lbs 13 oz. Which I'm sure won't be the case unless baby comes really early, because that's smaller than my other kiddos and this one is already measuring in the 80% percentile (going by an 8lb average).

We're in the home stretch now though! Starting next week I go every week for checkups. Baby still sounds good, moves a ton, and I'm doing great. One thing I can definitely be thankful for during all of this tragedy is super easy, uneventful pregnancies. If I had pains or sickness to go along with this sadness, it would be a ton worse I'm sure. So yay for easy pregnancies at least. :)

Had an ultrasound today to check baby's size (my OB is concerned s/he will be "too big" and I will need a c-section because my last kiddo had shoulder dystocia and got stuck during delivery). Anyhoo...baby has flipped around and is now BREECH. Agh! 36 weeks along tomorrow and baby decides to flip around on me. *sigh* But, baby measured about 6 lbs 2 oz today, in the 63rd percentile for weight. So, I'm not sure what that will mean come birth day, but I'm feeling like this won't be a giant like my doctor is expecting. Who knows if baby will turn back around though. That's the million dollar question now. Wah!

Must be a boy. My two boys were VERY stubborn/difficult labors and deliveries. My daughter was a breeze. Gotta be a naughty boy in there, lol. My daughter INSISTS this is a girl and refuses to accept the possibility of another brother. She is going to be so upset if she doesn't get a sister, ha.

Thanks for such a great update, Kelly! It's fun standing on the sidelines and cheering you on!

Go, Mama, Go !!

And, my full sympathies with your daughter ... I wanted a sister very badly and got two younger brothers instead! It all worked out quite well; but at the time ... well, life was just quite unfair!

I assume you're in labor right now, Kelly, since you're having the baby today! wink

Haha, still pregnant folks! :) I was hoping for a Full Moon baby, but Monkey has insisted on an October birthday. Due date checkup is on Thursday, but I'm hoping to be holding baby by then. Come out, baby!!!

I haven't been around the forums yet because I still haven't managed to pick reading back up regularly. I don't know what the deal is. I think there's still a part of me that feels guity for having such an escape when I know my mom is still struggling so much with grief. :( Or maybe it's just that I've been forcing myself to focus solely on the house and baby and time is short. Or that when I DO try and read, I almost immediately fall asleep. *sigh* So I haven't been around, but I'm doing ok. Just prepping for baby and I've put other tasks in front of reading for now. I'm sure I'll be hanging out more regularly soon. I miss my PBS family. heart

Take it from me -- October is a fine month in which to be born!!

We are all awaiting the happy news. I'm assuming that your husband knows that he is to post baby arrival info (and maybe photo?) here immediately -- well, he can call family members first, but then this forum is next on the priority list.

Thinking of you as you go down the homestretch to the finish line....
