Although better known for his science fiction efforts, David Webers foray into fantasy with Oath of Swords was highly entertaining, amusing, quickly paced, and flat out fun. The protagonists are interesting and interact well, with engaging dialog and quirky humor. The story has enough background to give it depth without sidetracking the central storyline and it was presented in such a way that the reader gets a good feel for the setting without tedious, long-winded info-dumps or monologs by the characters.
I really like this book. Ive read it many times and recommend it to anyone who likes a fantasy story that has a solid central theme and keeps a sense of humor even while exploring darker elements of the setting.

The creator of sf series heroine Honor Harrington turns successfully to fantasy. Bahzell is a prince of the Hradni, an outsize humanoid race prone to berserk rages. Due to a variety of circumstances, he becomes obliged to flee into regular humans' lands where Hradni are understandably unpopular. He and his companion survive a series of briskly paced adventures in a world Weber builds with a nice eye for detail, above-average knowledge of history, and a pleasing amount of wit. Moreover, the book's ending neither requires nor precludes a sequel. At the moment, Weber is not on a course to high honors or academic reputation but rather is emerging as a consistent producer of highly entertaining and intelligent action tales
I always enjoy David Weber. This series is more fantasy than his usual
sci/fi. I like his blend of humor and conflict, as well as his excellent
development of his characters.
Sorry, can't release it back to the bookshelf until both my daughters
have had a chance to read all three in this series. Then if all three are
still in good shape they will be on offer again. :)

Whom the Gods would recuit, they first tick off. Grabs ya doesn't it. Pretty good sword fantasy.
