I just joined less than 10 days ago and live on the west coast of the U.S.  It seems to me that packages comming to me (westbound) take far less time to arrive than packages I mail out (eastbound).  Is there a reason for this?  Or is it just a coincidence? I know I should allow more time for the packages I've sent to arrive. It just seems odd that I've received 4 packages and only 1 package I've sent has been received despite sending out a similar # during the same period.

Probably conicidence!  I have found there is no rhyme or reason to the travel times.  I live in Virginia and have had books get to California in less than a week, and other times get to California in 3 weeks.  Who knows why?

I live in Louisiana.  I've had packages from the East Coast take 10 days and one from Texas took almost 3 weeks.  I have several coming from different parts, it will be interesting to see in which order they arrive.

It totally depends on where it's going and where you are (and weather, of course!).  I live near Portland and all of our mail including media goes via airplane out of Sea-Tac.  If it's going to a major city, it gets there in 3 days or less.  If it's a minor city, it may take up to two weeks for Media Mail.  Mail coming to me comes in as little as 3 days and as long as 2+ weeks.

I'm in Texas, and it seems like my books going eastward arrive a lot faster!  I had some I mailed last Saturday make it to New York by Monday.  Mail to California and points west takes longer from here for some reason.

For some unknown reason, some get there faster than others. I have heard that if it is routed through Chicago for any reason there is a week delay. No idea why.

I have been working for the PO almost 19 years (!). I am in VT and I would say that the OP is correct as far as VT is concerned.
