@Charles K -  I have not read any of his, but they look interesting, I think I will order "Egypt", thanks.  The book I was reading was fiction concerning Eugenics in NC, which is still in the news these days, so it was interestingEdgerton's books sound lighter.  :)

I think Walking Across Egypt is one of his best.

If you like something heavier you might try William Gay. He has a book called The Long Home that is sometimes referred to as backwoods noir. set in Tennessee.

Just recently finished both and thought they were excellent.  They are in the legal theme mystery genre and previously read later of their novels and worked my way backward to earlier titles. If interested happy to do 2 for 1 on these titles or anything else on my shelf.
