Never seen this before.  I was offered the exact same book by the same member.  I did not think someone could post 2 copies of a book, and since the offer time is exactly the same for each of them, it has to be some form of glitch in the system.  I accepted both.  Interesting to see how they respond to the two acceptances.

I have had that happen.  I would contact paperback swap about it.

Are you sure that both are "the exact same book"? Some members post more than one copy of a book using the short ISBN (the number that PBS assigns to a book that was posted without an ISBN). The term "the exact same book" may be true of the title, author, publisher, cover, etc., all but the ISBN. Only one copy of a book using a given ISBN or short ISBN can be listed simultaneously by a single member.

If all four critical criteria (title, author, ISBN, binding) of the two offered books match, it is likely that an internal error (or 'glitch') caused the system to send a duplicate notice. I would have accepted only one of the requests and then contacted the sender to inquire about the second listing.

This happens sometimes. It's caused by a glitch on the browser side and not enough error handling code on the server side. If you have two credits, the best thing to do is accept both requests. Then PM the sender and tell her she needs to click I Cannot Mail on one of them. You'll get the second credit back when she cancels, and her cancelling will remove the second, non-existent, copy of the book from the system.

The reason why you should accept both requests is because if you decline one of the offers, that copy of the book will then be offered to another member who will accept. Then the sender will come back to her account and see two requests from two different members, and she'll have to pick one of them to cancel. She may end up canceling yours, even if you were the first one to request the book. If both requests are from the same member (you), then it doesn't matter which one she cancels.

Cathy, thanks for your information.  I did accept both for the same basic reason.   So far no response from poster, thanks

I still would have accepted only one of the offers and left the second one pending until I contacted the sender to get more information.  But Cathy's argument for accepting both offers is well taken and may be the better approach to resolving the problem.

I would usually just accept one and leave the other one out there unaccepted while I contact the sender. That way the sender doesn't print labels for both of them not realizing they have a request for the same book twice before reading their PMs and create a bigger (and potentially more costly) problem. If the sender doesn't fix it by the time it gets close to timing out and rolling to the next member, I contact the Team to cancel it.

Melanie -- when you leave one offer hanging, what do you ask the sender to do? Senders can't cancel an unaccepted WL offer, so do you ask her to cancel the actual request and then just hope that you get back here within the 48 hour window to accept the other one?
