Another Peggy Rathmann book that we fell in love with! My grandkids had fun reading Officer Buckle's notes throughout the book. Officer Buckle is the safety officer but he doesn't make an impact until Gloria the police dog becomes his partner. Gloria wakes the kids up and gets their attention. Meanwhile, Napville becomes a much more safe place. They are filmed and Officer Buckles sees that it's because of Gloria that he's had so much success-he gets bummed and gives up the safety speaking tour. Napville ends up having a huge disaster and he sees how much his message is still needed and how much his partner needs him too. It's a fun way to learn about safety and to have the kids spot the unsafe and safe ways of doing things. Highly recommend!
This book is SO funny and cute! Read how Gloria makes Officer Buckle's boring safety speeches much more amusing. I enjoyed this book as much as my daughter did!
Ages 4-8 or so.
Cute. Good beginer's read.
My boys love this book. They love policemen and dogs and silly things. This has all three. We read it over and over.
Clever story. Cute illustrations. One that adults can enjoy as much as the kids. I was pleasantly surprised, too, when our 3-year-old and 5-year-old started coming up with their own "safety tips", some genuine and some silly, after reading this story.
This book is an extremely fun read. The illustrations truly express the story's text. It will immediately be a book shelf favorite.
The tape was a helpful supplement to reading the book in class. We used it for a listening center in school.
It was part of the 2nd grade curriculum at our school. I liked it because if you just read the words, it was rather understated. The small little details in the pictures were the interesting part.
