I got a book in last week. From the outside it looks okay but when I was reading it I found a stain from what looks like coffee and there is underlining in it. Is that okay? Or should I write the person and let them know there was a problem. I already marked it received with no problem but I don't think these are allowed. If it was me I wouldn't send the book. Thanks for any thoughts.

Personally, I think you're a little too late to do much of anything right now. I would just use this as a learning experience. Make sure you check the book before marking it received.

But no, coffee stains and underlining are not allowed. I guess you could find them in the transaction archives (mine are squirrelly sometimes and don't always show successfully completely transactions in the order of date) and send them a PM letting them know they sent you an unpostable book but I think it's too late to ask for your credit back.

ETA: I should mention there are exceptions for underlining such as textbooks but those must be approved by the receiver before sending.

What Susan said.  Stained books are not postable, but if already marked received without a problem you have few if any options.

I had the same experience soon after I joined.  I now take the time to look the books over carefully.  Mostly thebooks are okay, but I just got one last week that has scattered underlining throughout.  I would have missed it if I hadn't examined the book fairly closely.  Thinga can slip by if there is only a quick and cursory look.
