Is anyone else in love with old books like I am?   I just got a book in the mail that was "beautifully" old.

First off, it was a bodice ripper cover from the 70's.  The pages were yellowed but the book is tight and in great condition.  And here's the best part........the edges of the pages were bluish green!!  Does anyone remember blue edges on a book?

And when I saw the copyright I was thinking 1978 is not too long ago.  Then I realized it's 30 years old.   Ouch.

yes, I do remember those page edges!  My son was 3 in 1978 and some days it seems, yes, like not so long ago.  I'm ready to have that vodka and lemonade and sip slowly!!!

I have a set of the old Kathleen Woodiwiss books - the ones with the red edges.  They also have the solid colored covers with the small cover artwork on the front and the spine.  Like these:

Mine were originally in boxed sets, but the boxes are long since gone.  I think they're some of the prettiest old books I have though.  I think what I like best about them is that even though I got these used, I remember when they were new on the shelf at Waldenbooks, back around 1979 - 1981.  I had several of them back then.

Oh I remember red edges now that I think back.

Kim, it's funny, both of those books are wish listed.  Guess you won't part with them, huh?  I won't let my blue edged book go......even if the story stinks :)

Nah, I will always have my Woodiwiss set.  It's more of a sentimental thing than an actual desire to read them again.  Aside from which, I've read all of her books several times anyway:P  I saw these at a used bookstore and nabbed them because they were in mint condition and I really wanted a set of her books on my keeper shelf.  I also have everything of hers on ebook as well - which is saying a lot, because I only have about 15-20 ebooks total.

I love old books too.  I have almost all of Georgette Heyers all published in the 70s or before and they are my favorite books even if they are yellowing.
