This is a Great spoof on the traditional "James Bond-esque" Spy/adventure novel with the hero - AN OLD GUY (and British to boot!) I don't know which is more embarassing - that I could enjoy and relate to the old guy so well or that it has since spent 15 months loaned out to all my friends who are 'Over 25' :-) In keeping with the "Bond" spirit though, the woman aren't old - Humm - do I detect a double standard or is it just because it works so well with the humor?

I liked this book, although it was not funny like A Confederacy of Dunces as one of the comments on the book jacket said. If you're not thrilled with old drunks, I'd stay away.
