This book was purchased for me by my DH. It is the best book I have ever read. The contents are historical and Richard must have done a tremendous amount of research in order to write this book. I could not put it down. I would highly recommend it.
In 1871 Andrew Napier and Fujio Hodokawa found a large silk textile mill in Nagasaki. Two generations later, relatives are Harvard classmates and best friends. The story starts in 1936 as love is growing between Douglas's son, Max and Tadashi's daughter, Shizuea. This is not a great idea because of mixed blood. Great novel about love and tradition especially during WWII.
