It's late autumn in the mountain town of Hillsboro and assistant mayor Connie Wilkes has her hands full. She's concerned about her beloved eighty-three year old uncle Poppa Joe, and his ornery insistence that he can still be as independent as a man half his age. She's also worried about a young friends' hasty plans for marriage. And now the new doctor, Nathan Reynolds, may not even stay to help the town that so desperately needs him.
But before the first winter snowfall, a chain of events is set in motion that will transform Connie, the doctor and the town-forever. And by Christmas day the greatest sorrow and the greatest miracle will bring reminders of the glorious possiblities of Emmanuel, God with us.

This book was wholesome reading, but my mind kept wandering off of the story line. Not sure why......not a bad book, just a little sluggish for me.
