I've been struggling to get through The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. I'm 60% through the book, but it has just bogged down for me. And I keep laying it down to read something on my list.

Is it just me?

I downloaded a sample and liked it. I just downloaded a library copy on my kindle. I plan on reading it on vacation next week.

I got it from the library and only made it a few chapters, maybe I quit too soon but I didn't like it at all.

I LOVED it!! But, I'm doubly prejudiced as I love her other books and I have a thing for books about works of art. Loved The Girl With A Pearl Earring, Girl in Hyacinth Blue, and The Lady and the Unicorn also. I don't know what it is about them.

I loved it too, but I couldn't exactly say why. I listened to it on audio, and once I got past the first chapters where the boy sounded especially whiney thanks to the narrator, I really enjoyed it.

I had the audio and maybe that was my problem, didn't like tone, and it did not hold my interest.

I read the whole book, and liked it, but the last third really dragged, to me.

I've heard and read many other reader comments saying much the same thing. It's not just you!

A friend and I were talking about how it's kind of funny: you start reading it and love it and tell people how great it is, then you get to that last 25-30 percent, and you're not loving it so much anymore :)

I think I'll just wait and see the movie.

I have not read anything by Donna Tartt before but have had The Secret History on my to get to list for years.  I tried listening to The Gold Finch and couldn't get into it either.  I've heard the narrator read other books and I don't think it was necessarily him.  I might try the print version and if I still can't get into it the I'll know it's the book.

I started her audio of My Little Friend and couldn't finish it.  Hated it.
