I requested a book from a member and was browsing through his shelf and found these:

Fortune Made his Sword- Martha Rofheart (supposed to be one of the best books written about Henry V)

The Passionate Brood- Margaret Campbell Barnes (About the children of Henry II of England and Eleanor of Aquitaine: Richard Lionheart, John, etc.

Too Near the Throne- Molly Costain Haycraft ( a novel based on the life of Lady Arabella Stuart)

The Reluctant Queen- Molly Costain Haycraft (Mary Tudor and Charles Brandon in the court of Henry VIII)

The Three Edwards- Thomas Costain

The King's Grey Mare- Rosemary Hawley Jarman (Elizabeth Woodville, Edward IVs Queen)

Here be Dragons- Sharon Kay Penman

ENJOY!!!! He will definitely be happy once you all start ordering these LOL!

Maybe I should go ahead and learn to read while I'm here. Duh... LOL

Thanks for the heads up Jennifer! I'm really excited about the Martha Rofheart book. I borrowed another of her books from the library a while back called The Lionheart and it was excellent.

Ooh I would love to read that one Valli! I have been looking at her books, and Cry God For Harry sounds like it may be good from the title and considering the popularity of her other books. However, I haven't been able to find any information on it. Then again, I don't recall looking at the tags for it on LibraryThing so I may need to check there..... But I am glad you grabbed those books up.

I remembered seeing that you were wishing for most of these on BookMooch and thought about you immediately!

I got The Broken Sword by Rhoda Edwards (which I believe you are also wishing for and if so let me know and I will send it to you when I finish it) and Crown in Candlelight by Rosemary Hawley Jarman. The only Jarman book I do not own now is Crispin's Day: The Glory of Agincourt.

Katie, according to the tags on Library Thing, The Three Edwards is about Edward I, II, and III. The Black Prince was the son of Edward III, so I am sure there will be information in the book about him.

Jennifer, I was surprised at just how good the book was because I'd never even heard of this author before. I meant to go back and see if the library had any other of her books, but Katrina got in the way. After getting ten feet of water in every room of the library, it was closed for over a year. Now, our new library doesn't have any of her books. The old library had a lot of old, out of print books, and it's a real shame that they were all lost.

I looked at her other titles at Amazon last night and they all sound like good reads. Or, at least, the couple of reviews I found make them sound good.

I need to add Crispin to my wishlist. I'd never heard of it until you mentioned it, Thanks!  I'd love to read The Broken Sword when you get ready to list it!

Jennifer, I'll give you an easy hint. The author's name makes you think he'd read very fast! In fact, his name sounds like he'd do everything FAST! I had this one on my wishlist for over a year and never moved up in line. I saw it at Book Closeouts and bought it. Can you guess which book it could be? I think you'll be happy with the book, but it would be too easy if I just tell you!

Katie, I did the exact same thing. I knew she had a book coming out soon, but forgot to add it to my WL. I'll read Jennifer's copy as soon as it gets here.  I'll post about it in this forum and get it going through the wishlist lines. Thanks for sharing it Jennifer!

Oh and you are welcome about Antony and Cleo! I hope you can get it next Katie! I loved her Masters of Rome series so I am sure this one will be great.

I read The Memoirs of Cleopatra by Margaret George in 2003 and loved it so much that I changed my major from Forensic Science to Anthropology (intended to be an Archaeologist). I will be starting grad school in Spring 2009 for Ancient History with an emphasis on Roman Republican History!! Woo hoo! LOL

Yup! That's it! I knew you'd like that one. I just need to finish the book I'm reading and then I'll get it started. I read fast so it won't be long. Think of me if you decide to get rid of that Tiger Claws ARC. ;-) Good luck with school! The major in Roman Rep History is really perfect for you.

Haha! Good thinking Kaite! I prefer paperbacks too! Hardbacks are just too heavy and bulky!

Crap!  This is what I get for not having computer access for 8 days.  (Actually that part was quite lovely, to be honest...not so much about missing out on the available books!)  Just had The King's Grey Mare posted to my wl while I was gone...yay!  Hope you all had a nice turkey day!!!
