hi all I keep seeing the ad for the mortal insturments city of bones ad on facebook. I was wondering if anyone can tell their opinion on it. I don't read ya anymore, I gave up on hunger games after the first book because the movie was way more interesting. I was wondering if the mortal insturments series was finished yet also. thanks!

It was originally written as a trilogy - so those three books are all out.

After they were finished the author decided to add three more books to the series. So 4 and 5 are released but book 6 won't come out until next year.

I personally loved the orignal trilogy, the first three books.

The second installment is not that great in my opinion.

She also has a spinoff series called the Infernal Devices which I also love.

I enjoyed the first three and gave up a few chapters into the 4th one.  I rarely stop reading books, but I just couldn't deal with the 4th one.  I felt like the third one was "the end" and when the 4th one came out I was excited, but it just felt like the story was stretch and couldn't stay interested.

I really have only read the first three.  I think they are well written with a lot of action and intigue to keep the plot moving.  I really liked the characters of Jace and Clary; however, the "incest" theme that kept getting mentioned throughout the series almost turned me off the series.

My 17 yo daughter has read all the books so far and is really upset over the delay of the last one in the series (online news says the delay is due to the author's oversight of the movie.)  She can't wait to see the movie, but I am not interested in demon hunters, though I enjoyed watching The Hunger Games, and read and watched all of the Twilight series.

I saw Mortal insturments last night. I would give it 3.5 out of 5. I have not read the books so I do knot know how closely it stays true to the book. It appeared to me there are gaps in the movie I am hoping the book would fill in. I thought the movie and I am guessing the book was a bit of rip off of several other books/movies. The portal was very similar to Star Gate, Mundanes vs Moguls from Harry Porter for nonmagic humans. I don't want to list another one as it is a spoiler but it was similar to Star Wars.

Has anyone else seen it or read the books? How are the books? Are they worth reading?

Alice, I read the 1st book last month in anticipation of seeing the movie.  (Walmart had a special MMP release of it.)  I enjoyed it more than I thought i would.  There were some differences in the movie compared to the book.  I saw the movie Saturday night.  The stuff with Valentine and Jace was a little different in the book.  And the scene riding off on the motorcycle was the same but different.   I don't know...they change some things in the movie that I don't know how they may continue the series on the screen.  Guess I need to read the next book to see if the changes made sense...
