Sorry, I don't know if we have a thread like this already, but I hate starting a new thread when I want to get opinions about certain authors or series that I want to try.  So I'll use this one..LOL  I picked up a few books today and wanted some feedback.

Joey W. Hill Vampire Queen series?

Also, anyone have any opinions on the Paladins series by Alexis Morgan?

I loved the Vampire Queen's Servant and it's not my usual thing. It's just amazingly well written withreally fleshed out characters.   I have the second in the series TBR.

I have an Alexis Morgan book or 2 TBR but I haven't read anything of hers yet

I happened to not like Vampire Queen's Servant, but I think I'm in the minority.  I'm not into bdsm in books, at least not in the ones I've read so far. I read the first, struggled through the second, and gave up on the third.

Virginia, I didn't like it that much either, probably because I prefer the man to be the dominant. I don't plan to read the rest in the series.

Anne, I think you're right! I had trouble finding him hot when he was in the submissive role. And she just seemed like too much of a ballbuster.

Have not read the Joey Hill series

The Paladins I like -- I have read the first 3 --  They are pretty standand paranormal romance -- nothing that really makes it stand out or puts it on the top of my favs list, but a good easy read.

I tried the Paladin's series but didn't even finish the first book. It's pretty much your average paranormal romance, nothing new, interesting, or exciting to hold my attention. I think I came across just about every paranormal romance cliche within the first 100 pages of the book which was what frusterated me enough into putting it down at the time. This was probably a year ago so I don't remember exactly, though. With all the great books in my TBR pile I decided I didn't want to bother with a series that was so similar to what I've already read a million times before.

I tried one of the Vampire Queen books until I realized that it has a pretty strong BDSM theme and that just isn't my thing at all, so I didn't continue with those books either.

Joey W. Hill Vampire Queen series - i'm another who didn't like this.  i couldn't even get through the first chapter, flipped through the rest of it and didn't see anything that made me interested, so i gave it up unread.

Paladins series by Alexis Morgan - this was slightly better in that i made it through the first three before giving up, but i just didn't find it interesting enough to keep going.  (i liked the first book in her Talions series much better, but the second was a little blah for me.)

I agree with Sarah on the Paladin series. I'm trying to get through the first book because I have the four books after it. I might just give up but 5 points are a lot to me:)

I checked out Joey W Hill's series and it looked interesting but I don't get into BDSM either. A pass for me.

Anybody read the Master of Time series?  I went to my book store yesterday and she told me that people who have read that series really liked it.  I got one of them, of course she gave me the wrong one as the 1st in the series, but I looked them up on Amazon and it's the only one that got more than 3 stars.  Opinions?

I didn't like The Vampire Queen's Servant either and I like BDSM. Haven't read those Kim. Been wondering too though. I have several series in my TBR pile that I just haven't made time for yet. Anyone read any of these and can give me opinions?

C.E. Murphy's Walker Papers

Ilona Andrew's Magic Series

Lilith Saintcrow's Jill Kismet Series

Ann Aguirre's Blue Diablo

Ilona Andrews is awesome. The Magic books just get better and better. She's a auto-buy for me, and her books are always keepers.

Heather...I love all of those.  I've only read the 1st Jill Kismet.  They are all more UF then PNR.

You know I'm not a huge magic fan, I had the first 2 books in the Kate Daniels series and I read like the first 2 chapters and I sent them out without reading them.  I think it was probably just my mood at the time, I really shoulda just put them on the shelf for a later date.  I guess I'll have to get them and try again.

Anybody read any of Keri Arthur's other series besides Riley Jensen?  I like her writing and I want to try another, but not sure which one to begin with.

I tried her Myth and Magic AND the Ripple Creek Werewolf series and I couldn't get through either of the 1st books in the series. It's a good thing I read the Riley Jensen series first, otherwise I wouldn't have ever liked Keri Arthur.

That's sad to hear.  I was thinking about trying her Nikki & Michael and Spook Squad series as well as Myth & Magic.   I felt the same way about Charlaine Harris, I read Sweet and Deadly and I wasn't really crazy about it.  I sent a Secret Rage off without getting more than a few pages into it.  I like the Harper Connelly series enough to read it, but I'm not sad in the least that it's over.  I have yet to try Shakespear or Aurora Teagarten, I don't think I'll like either.  And I was sorely disappointed with the last Sookie book, felt like it was written by a different author than the one who wrote the first ones.

I liked the Paladins series.  I've read the first 2 or 3 books in it.

I liked the second book in the Masters of Time series, but hated the first!  I read them out of order, so I wanted to go back and read the first one, since I liked the second so much and it took me FOREVER to finish the first book.  It was not very good at all.  I haven't tried anymore books in this series, but I have them all.

i'm all caught up on Reily, and i've got some of the others stacked up in TBR, but so far i've read the first Myth & Magic and the first Ripple Creek Werewolf book.

Beneath a Rising Moon (Ripple Creek Werewolf, Bk 1) was probably my favorite Keri Arthur so far, and i'm hoping to get my hands on the 2nd, maybe for Christmas. :)

Destiny Kills (Myth and Magic, Bk 1) i liked it ok, but it did drag a bit at times. i do like the dragon stuff, so i'll try the second one and hope the pacing improves.

Anybody read the Alien Huntress series by Gena Showalter?  I've been offered a copy of the first book, I think I'm going to take it because, well, she is one of my fave authors, but I'd like the yays and nays of it.  I have her Playing with Fire but haven't read it, I guess I'll have to get to that since the second book is coming out.

I read both the Ripple Creeks and liked them both. The second was a bit too much like the first, but I loved the first so that was okay. :)

not counting the teen ones, which i haven't read anyway, i thought the first one was good enough and an interesting world setup, gave up on the second after 50 pages (hated both the main characters), the third was ok, and i liked the fourth one.  but i definitely think her LOTU series is more interesting.  i haven't read Playing With Fire yet either, and it's been sitting here a while.

I finally read the first of the Ripple Creek series.  Now I wish I had the second one handy and didn't have to wait.  I loved it.  Read it in one night.

Ok, I'm gonna have to give ripple creek a try again. It was one of those books where I started, couldn't get into, then gave away. I've learned my lesson though. Lately, some of the best books I've read, had very slow starts (Spellbent & Ravenous to name a couple)

Ilona Andrew's Magic Series - I'm really glad I stuck through the 1st book.  By the time I was done with the 3rd I wanted MORE.
