Emily Huxby is a successful attorney with a big NY law firm. She has a great boyfriend, who seems ready to propose. So Emily dumps him before he can ask, sure she has made a good decision. However Emily's life starts to slowly unravel and she begins to delve into her life, questioning many of her choices.

This was a quick and enjoyable read. Chick lit with depth and a great cast of characters. I didn't care too much for Emily at first, but came to really care about her and was rooting for her to get her life together. I loved her Grandpa Jack and his friend Ruth, Emily's assorted friends, Kate, Jess and Mason, her therapist Dr. Lerner made me laugh. In fact I laughed quite often while reading this book, I also cried at parts, but in the end I really enjoyed reading this book.

It took me a while to get into this story as Emily the central character was so closed off I did not feel anything for her, other than annoyance, as the story went on and you learn more about her family and friends and work, you learn to feel sorry for her and then you route for her! Tear jerker at the end but in a good way, a happy cry.. great author, I'd like to read more from Julie Buxbaum.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a little bit deeper than light chick lit books, but not so deep that you found it hard to get through.

It was a great, plausible story and I am looking forward to reading Julie's next novel "After You".

I really liked this story, at first i had a little trouble getting into it. but once i got thru to the end, i was sad to see it end. all of the different parts of her life were so complex, just as i think many women feel their lives are. and it was laid out like a real life experience not like a story that is destine to have a happy ending. i am glad i read this book as i think it will give me a deeper insight even into myself
