I loved this book, Eric Hansen is a wonderful story teller and it is a series of stories about the wild adventures of collecting Orchids and the people who are attracted to this passion.

"You can get off alcohol, drugs, women, food and cars, but once you're hooked on orchids you're finished. You never get off orchids ... never" Joe Kunisch, orchid grower.
Eric Hansen goes into the jungles of Borneo to find a rare orchid. Hilarious, bizarre, and compelling, the book involves corruption, murder and plant politics.

A very interesting look at some extremes of orchids and orchid collection. Hansen travels from Borneo to Minnesota to meet some fascinating orchid people and share their stories, including ones about orchid ice cream and orchid perfume. He focuses on a bizarre set of rules that have been written concerning the collection and transport of wild orchids and how they have created a culture of collectors labeled "thieves" who are often better scientists and conservationists than their peers.
