As I have in the past, I am again quite oversupplied with book credits---more than I will ever use to order books for myself, friends and family members.  If you know of someone (maybe yourself?) who could use a free book and can't order it for themselves because of various issues (personal/financial/health etc.) I would be willing to order one or more books using my credits.  Send me the name of that person with their full address, the books that they would like and I will order them for them.  Make sure that copies are available here in the system---can't put them on my wishlist and kep track of whom to send to.  You would also be responsible to notify me when book/s arrived at their destination so I can tell the site and senders will get their credits.  I have done this before using about 20-30 credits per session, though the last time was several months ago.

Send me a PM if you have someone in mind with particulars.  I'm not offering just to send books to someone who would like a freebie, but trust your judgment on whom to request these for.

Let me know if you have an idea of someone for this "Random Act Of Kindness"

Winston

Lincoln, NE

PS:  I've had some response, but not a lot, so find me some more folks that need a RAOK, PBS members!

A wonderful thing to do!  But a quick word of warning.  I once received a somewhat frantic call at home from a lady ( and of course, my wife answered the phone ) who had received a book from me, and had no idea why I would send her a book.  In fact, she had never heard of me or of Paperback Swap.  I assume she called information and got my phone number.   When I looked up the name of the requester and told her, she of course recognized it as a friend who she had discussed a subject with and who had, apparently, requested a book from me to be sent to her.  All's well that ends well, I suppose, but the requester might want to let the receiver know the book is coming.

Nolan: That is good advice.  I have been telling the requester to let the recipient know that the book(s) are coming so that they can tell them that they came .  They can let me know so Ican tell the site and the senders will get their credits.  Sometimes that takes awhile to figure out, but it has worked out fairly well so far.  I have done this stuff at least twice beforte.

Awww...yes

But now I don't get the reason for your nickname, Winston. I mean, if all crabby people were so generous, the whole world would be a better place!

I have heard from a few people with requests for this RAOK, but I have lots of credits left and would love to order another 10-15 books for people with at least a "sort-of" good reason.

The nickname isn't too hard>  I am a doctor, though mostly retired, and my name is Crabb, so.....thought it would be easy to remember and distinctive.  Sometimes I am indeed crabby, though.

Haven't heard from anybody lately, so thought I'd give this a boost to the top of the page.  Surely there are other deserving people that others know of to send books to!

Thank you for the books you ordered for me Winston. The first one arrived this weekend (Cancer has it's privileges). So grateful for not only your offer but that this is the second time you ordered me some books. Tammie

I put a note on this in the RAOK thread this AM.  I don't know if I will get additional response there or not, but we will see.

I have had some response, but offer is still open.  There are more people who deserve a freebie book or two, I'm sure!

Winston, yesyesyes

I understand your nickname now, but you are most definitely NOT a "crabby doctor" here! *grin*
