I have been on a 'clean off' the book shelf rampage today - posted lots of books plus ordered lots of books!!

I always try to check the bookshelf of the person I have ordered a book from to see if there are any others that I may want!  I often am ordering series by the same author - my problem is that I have not figured out how to sort that persons bookshelf by author!  I don't want to take the time to go through 5 pages of books by title!  Has anyone else had this problem?

I usually open PBS in another browser window, and either find them in the member directory if they have a profile or click on the PM button on the book transaction on my main account page, when the message page opens, click on their name, which brings me to their shelf and I can then sort by author from there.

When you are on their bookshelf, hit the button that says search, filter by genre( or something like that)  That will put a couple search boxes at the top of their bookshelf.  One is keyword- you can put in the authors last name and it wil bring up those books.  Good luck.

Yes, this is why I usually don't bother looking at what else is posted.  I am too lazy to troll through pages of listings just in case there's something I want.

Nancy, I assume you meant once you have ordered the first book and wanted to look at the rest of their bookshelf.

In this scenario I don't think you can since all the books are in "Title" order. What I do is go and resort by Author, Ascending and then write the title of every book I want to order (or make a deal for) after that I make the deal and or order from their bookshelf. So one you order the first book each additional book you have to go by book title to add t to your list.

Since my chicken scratch is "Doctor" quality I sometimes can't tell what the title of the books are. I also have a tendency to order or make deals for 20-80 books at a time so this process is time consuming. One of the reasons why I haven't gone through springy's bookshelf of 7,000 books is it would take me all day and I would run out of credits. :)

You can always do the search and then type the author in the keywords (at least when it is working right). If you can resort by author you can search by keyword. At least I have always been able to. I would never look through someones whole bookshelf unless they had just a few. I use the genre search if I'm not looking for a particular author.  I just ordered 3 books from one person and 4 from another and completed the series I was looking for. #9 & 10 were both the only one listed on PBS so I really lucked out!! I prefer ordering from as few people as possible because one time I ordered from several people at once and of course the very last one to arrive was the next in the series.

The "order more" feature is not searchable; the bookshelf is.

Frequently when I have used the bookshelf to order more from the same sender, I PM them to make sure they noticed the additional books were from the same person who ordered earlier--so they can mail together.

I always do a search on the order more. There is a "Search/Browse This Members Books" on the top right. Maybe this is new since you last used it.

On a related note - several times in the last couple of months, I've received a WL offer, and then ordered an additional book from the senders shelf.  Three times, the WL book was sent and the additional book order was cancelled.  I'm sure I ordered from the original sender's shelf.  I'm not sure why someone would do that, unless they found out that the second book was unpostable, but to have it happen 3 times in a row is wierd.  The only way I knew that the second book went to the next in the FIFO line was that they were listed under Books en Route to Me as coming from two different states, and that made me check my transaction archive.

Laura that is truly weird. Obviously it would be cheaper to send 2 books for 2 credits instead of just 1 book for 1 credit. I agree with you anything could happen with just one but three in a row doesn't sound right. If you ever find out what went wrong let us know.
