Amazon has a notice that pops up when a person orders a book that  she has already purchased.  I  know that a few weeks ago I received a similar notice here on PBS when I was  asking (again!)  for a book already ordered and received.  How come the notice doesn't show up every time?  It would sure save me a few credits!

I think it only shows up when the book has the same ISBN # -- different version, you will not get the reminder that you already ordered that book.

So far, I have done it 3 times!  I'm alittle embarrassed to admit that.  The books have all been paperbacks- looked  to be the same. The 2 in my hands right now have the same isbn.  It's obvious that I am not the most observant person!!!

I solved that problem by marking all my books either TBR or BIR in the appropriate places.  Time consuming to put them all in but well worth it in the end.  Pat

Yes, when you pull up the book detail page do you look to see if it says "BIR" or "Bookshelf" or "Transaction Archive"? That has stopped me from re-ordering a few books that I did not remember either ordering or reading...we all do it sooner or later!

I was just going to suggest what Pat did.  I used to TBR every version of a book I own but then the list got too long.  Now when I get a book that has several versions in the system-I put the one I actually own on my TBR and then I use the note feature to mark that I own another version.

Yes, we all do it. I remember reading about a member who put a mark in her books she donated to Goodwill so she wouldn't buy them back again. LOL

Don't be embarrassed, Victoria -- ordering/buying the same book multiple times just makes you an official bibliophile ;-)

Oh Nancy thank you for that chuckle, I will tell my sister that trick. She needs it.
