I got that same message before when I ordered a book for myself and another for a swap shortly afterwards...but it let me put the order through. |

Actually, that messaging is trying to protect those of us who have so many books waiting to be read that we forget sometimes that we've already ordered that book. I cannot tell you how many times I've thought "That sounds good, let's order" and then gotten that message that basically says "Hey, dummy, that books already in your bookcase waiting to be read" Doh! :-) Cheers, Catt |

I'm not sure there, Terri -- maybe there are only 2 copies available? Try the "Contact Us" link and ask, and let us know what you learn :-)

I've never been able to order more than one copy. (Sometimes I'll order extra copies of an assigned reading books so my children's teachers have some spares.) If I need multiples I get buddies to order them, having them shipped to my address and transfer a credit to them immediately so none of their credits are tied up. |

I don't know why it does that but I do remember someone trying to order books for their book club a long time ago and the system wouldn't let her. What she did was ask several of us to order the book and have it mailed to her, and then she credited our accounts. It was simple and she got the books. I've always found I couldn't order a second copy until the first was marked mailed. I was told this was intentional to enforce FIFO.
ETA: Is it possible the 6 books you ordered were all different versions (different ISBNs) of the book? That would be seen as different books in the system, so you could order all 6 and never see the warning you've already ordered it. Last Edited on: 10/27/08 12:14 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |
