In the beginning, I was struggling with whether I actually wanted to read this book. The dialect of the protagonist, Fen, just drove me crazy. She is speaking "tribe" and it took some getting used to. It is a good story, though. Orleans is a brutal, hostile place with little hope and, at times, this makes for a difficult read. In the end I felt it was well done and this terrifying world gives food for thought.
