This is one of the best books I have ever read. It is the real life memoir of William Roger Holman. Left by his mother at age 6 , he went through several foster home & orphanages. Set in the Oklahoma dust bowl era, most people here were very poor & out of necessity , had to place their children in orphanages . The homes were overcrowded & barely enough food to feed them. You will cry most of the time and laugh at some of Mr. Holman's escapades. You will not be able to put this book down. 5 stars for this one.
