This book introduces Rafe, another brother and Julia's family.
This is an easy book to read. The characters are a little different than I expected. I could guess what was going to happen next most of the time. I did enjoy reading this book and looked forward to getting the rest of the series.

I normally love Connealy's books, but the Kincaid trilogy was hard to swallow (I'm reading book2). The characters are thoroughly unlikeable. The girl, Julia and her selfish, air-headed obsession with fossils which causes her to perpetually want to go caving despite all these other larger problems looming that obviously deserved to be on the top 10 on their priority list. There's a pregnant woman's who's due any day now, there's a dying father to tend to, a toddler baby that needs constant vigilance, AND there's a man on the loose who had already tried to harm Julia, and she decides to go for a stroll in the cave. Anyone who's gone caving knows its not a 15 min. detour, it can take hours, not to mention the risk of death or injury. And this happened over and over again, until you just want to throw Julia in a cage & toss away the keys. Rafe, her love interest, on the other hand, was possibly intended to be portrayed as a hard, responsible, man's man, who thinks he's responsible for all life around him, yet has post traumatic stress syndome from an incident which in he blamed himself for his wild-spirited brother's accident and subsequent injury in the caves years ago, nevermind that he succeeded in saving his life. I see how this accident could be stressful, but having flashbacks and panic attacks from this, just isn't believable. Without sounding insensitve to those who have PTSS, in this fiction, I just wanted to shout, "Get over it!" But I did finish the book, and it's more wholesome & sweeter, and cleaner than secular romances, so no loss in reading it, except for a few hours of your precious life.
