This is the first Western I've read in a while. I don't know why as I really enjoy them. This story dealt with corruption at the highest level in a state's government. When the crooked governor is out of state on a hunting trip, the state attorney general dies. This gives the honest lieutenant governor the right to appoint an honest attorney general. This leads to a real mix of political confrontations, beatings, shootings, etc. All are resolved through a combination of old time Western justice and new legal procedures, with the traditional romance thrown in.
