Is it really necessary to mail from the PO?  I used a postage machine and placed what the wrapper said.  By time I get off work the PO is already closed unfortunately

Only packages with honest-to-goodness postage stamps as postage - the kind that normally go on letters - need to be "approved" by a clerk. Your packages should be fine.

"Traceable" postage may be dropped in a blue box (or other mailing venue), no idea if postage meters qualify as 'traceable'....anybody???  If you were a terrorist intent on committing a crime through the mail, could the postage be backtracked to you?  If not, your packages over 13 oz. must be passed over the counter at the post office.

Domestic mail over 13 ounces and bearing only stamps as postage is required to be handed to a clerk at the post office; any other postage  payment method can be dropped in a collection box.

ok, sounds like I'm good.  I used the PBS delivery conf. # and metered postage.  I used it previously on a PB, but wasn't sure on a hardcover.  Thanks everyone!  Off to drop them in the big blue box

Postage meter postage is traceable. The postage meter serial number is on there and it is traceable that way.

darn it, I mailed them 2 days ago, and I still haven't gotten my instant credit (used PBS delivery confirmation).  I'm hopefull they just didn't scan the barcode and they are not coming back to me.

if you used the prepaid postage, you should have gotten the credit when you marked the books mailed....

I didn't use the PBS postage, only DC.  I did this last time and had no issue and now I have 2 HB's out there with no credit yet.  Hopefully they arrive at their destinations soon and get marked rec'd.
