If you or someone you know is caring for an elderly person (55 or older) at home, please suggest that they check whether there is a PACE Program in their area. My sister is nearing her first anniversary as a PACE participant.  It has been a lifesaver for both of us.

PACE  is accepted by Medicare and  Medicaid as a community alternative for nursing home care.  You can also private pay, if the person does not yet qualify for Medicare or Medicaid.  The website for the National PACE Association is:

There are descriptions and articles about PACE, and ways to see if there is one near you.  There are around 60 across the country, I think.

We actually moved to a neighboring town, so my sister would be in their service area and could enroll.  (There were other reasons for moving as well.)  It has made my life so much easier.
