PBS DC says that it's been delivered but I don't have it. Says it was delivered at 3:45PM yesterday, which is when my mail came, but I was there and the mailman handed me my mail. Color me confused. Anyone had this happen? Should I be worried? If anything I think I'm just really worried. I've waited for this book for awhile, I'd really hate for it to be lost.

I've had this happen on a package and it turned out the carrier mis-delivered it.  I called the post office a few hours after it was scanned (I was watching for the package) and the postmaster made the delivery gal go back over her route checking mailboxes and knocking on the doors of similar house numbers. Showed up in my box the next day (sunday) in the evening so whoever got it must have dropped it off because the PO wasn't working. Hope it shows up. Do you know the people on your street enough to go ask any of them?

Most of them even if I did know them I wouldn't be able to speak to them as I don't speak Spanish. I'm going to wait til tomorrow and if it's not here I'll be going to the P.O.

Honestly though I don't see how he could have mixed it up unless he dropped it off on the wrong street. House numbers around here are pretty far apart. There are only 2 other houses on my street then begin with an 8. Well I guess he could have read the numbers backwards.

Not all postal carriers have the scanner in their vehicles.  Mine only recently got the scanners. I don't pay much attention to DC scans but I do occasionally check.  It used to be that a book would show up a day or two after it was scanned. But the other day I noticed my mail carrier scanning a book before she put it into my mail box.  So they must have only recently acquired these.

Well I went to the P.O. today and they are saying it's been delivered and I don't have the book. They said when my mailman gets back in today they will ask him and give me a call (I'm not going to hold my breath for the phone call). I got 3 of the 6 books I was expecting today, 2 more still on the way and 1 seems lost. I'll go back tomorrow and see what they say then.

We get mail for the neighbor on a fairly regular basis. We also get mail for 246 School Street, which is one street over from us.  Someone can't read!

If my mailman did drop it off on another street but the same number he's really got issues. We are the only street that ISN'T a number, our street has an actual name.

Do check again Esther, and hopefully the book turns up (some way or another)!

I've only had 2 books that never showed up. 1 shows a delivery scan but I have never seen the book. I don't know where they delivered it but it wasn't to my house.

I once had a package (not a PBS one) show up in USPS tracking as having been delivered to my P O Box - two days later I reported that I'd never seen it! A few hours later it was there. I asked what had happened, and was told it had been sitting in the "To Be Delivered" bin (for two days!), which the supervisor I spoke with had gone through himself, putting it in my box when he found it.

Esther--

If you've not already done so, you might check out the Help Center document titled, "I got a PBS email saying a book was delivered to me, but I didn't get it!".  I know you didn't get an email, but it still covers what to do if something shows as "delivered" and you haven't received it.

If you need help with a "cheat sheet" to help you talk to your Spanish neighbors, I'll be happy to help, or I know there are other Spanish-speaking members on PBS who would probably help too.

Cheers,

Catt

Well I've done everything the help center says. I've gone to the P.O. I've PMed the sender. If I still don't have it by tomorrow I will ask her to look up her part (something to the effect "I sent a book says delivered but they don't have it"). Hopefully it will turn up. I'd really love to read the book, I can re-order it but I won't until this is finished.

I am in the same boat. DC says my book was delievered but its not in my mailbox :(  Will check again today as I do not think my mail carrier has a scanner either and they scan it at the post office.  Can't wait to move and have a mail carrier who is not stuffing 50 odd mail slots at one time.

Went to the P.O. again yesterday and they said they talked to my mailman. He told them that he did indeed deliver it but I called BS real fast. I was standing at my mailbox the day he said he delivered it and no package\book only 1 bill (yay! right). So they have told me that it is lost. Great! So now I wait until PBS marks it lost.

Do I still get my credit back even though the PBS DC says it was delivered? I tried to look in the help center but I couldn't find the answer to that.

Yes you still get yoru credit back. He probably left it at the wrong house.  I've 2 books go lost to me and never show up.  1 shows a delivery scan. Don't know where they left it but it wasn't at my house.
