I've only been trading on here a few months, but always buy postage thru PBS. Today, I get the message that electronic postage isn't available for two separate requests.  Is this a glitch? Both addresses were in the lower 48 states.

It happens sometimes. It's a problem with Endicia the postage provider and not PBS.  Usually if you try again later it works.

When that happens to me, I go to USPS Online and click on "Find a Zip Code." After entering the given address, I look to see what USPS gives as the standardized address and rectify the discrepancy in that way.A typical snafu is that the member placed his or her apartment number in the "C/O" field. I then PM the requestor and ask that the address be formatted according to USPS dictates.

Pam, that is great info.  I really like all the problem-solving that I find on this forum.

As Mary said, if you get two of these messages one after another, chances are it's just that Endicia is down momentarily. The error message is a bit misleading, in that it says "not available for THIS address" when in reality it's not available for ANY address at that particular time. Usually those are very short-lived; I know on the odd occasion when it happens, I can usually print just fine a few minutes later.

Unless the person is really new to PBS and no one has tried to send them a book yet, it's not too likely that the problem would actually be with the way the address is entered, as they would have been notified by PBS before then. But it does happen, I suppose!
