Subject: PBS Not Showing Shipping Details?

I have mailed out a number of books in the past week where, when I click Details, it shows only the DC number and nothing else. There is also nothing that says Electronic Shipping Info Received, which confuses me because most of the books I sent out in the past had that appear in Details within a few hours, even if USPS hadn't picked the packages up yet (I mail from work, so packages sometimes sit in the mail crate overnight).

Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just me?

The USPS has changed their format.  Looks like they may have changed how often books get scanned as well.  My last two books were not scanned at the local sorting point,  only the regional sorting point.  (That black hole renamed Bell Gardens.)

Did you try putting the DC# in the PO's website for tracking?  Sometimes there is a delay between the PO and PBS.  Try that and see if the details are different.  If not, then it could very well be that they just aren't scanning it.  Since it's delivery confirmation, they are technically only required to scan it upon delivery.  The extra scans along the way are just bonuses.  But I would definately go the PO's website and enter the DC#.  Good luck!

I copied the DC number of one package and looked it up at the USPS website--and there it was. It has indeed been scanned at multiple locations. PBS just isn't showing the scans.

Erica, I also have sent many PBS postage/DC books this past week. Was wondering why only the DC numbers are showing up. Hoping it just temporay and that PBS will continue to do what they did in the past. For now, I will have to go to the PO tracking site.

I don't usually check my "details" much, but out of curiousity I did when I saw this thread. I mailed several books on Monday and none have been scanned, which is pretty unusual--usually they (or at least one of a bunch mailed) would have a scan at the local distribution center within 24 hours. Not this time...but there are indeed multiple scans showing up  when I plug in the DC#'s at the USPS website...the link between PBS and USPS must be down again.

Looks like this problem may have been fixed--at least, my books sent Monday (the ones that haven't already been received) are showing scans along the way here on PBS now.

Hmmm...or maybe not. I sent some more books on Thursday. No scans showing on PBS details, but when I plug the tracking # into the USPS site, it's showing a scan later Thursday night and another one yesterday. Maybe there is just an ongoing delay of 2-3 days between PBS and USPS or something. It doesn't bother me because with the printable postage my credit is instant, but if I were using just the PBS DC where the credit came only when a scan registered, I'd be a little out of sorts I think.

I've been told that there are data gaps with books that were marked mailed on 8/5, 8/11 and 8-13.  They're working on a fix.
