I've noticed in the last several weeks that it takes forever for PBS to load. By forever I mean 45 secs or longer.  I'm not having this problem with any other website. I know a minutes doesn't seem like a long time but it gets frustrating as many times a day that I come here. Any clues? Anyone else having this problem?

It's happening to me too for several days now.  A few times I've even gotten an error message that the website was taking to long to respond.

No problems here. I use Chrome for my browser.

They did just do a software upgrade, that might have something to do with it. If you haven't cleared your cookies and cache recently, try that.

I have had that problem, too.  All other websites came in fast but not PBS.  I will clear my cookies and cache and see if that helps as they did do a software upgrade.

It's been happening to me also.  I use both Internet Explorer at work & Firefox at home. It's slow for me both places though.

Add me as another having issues (using Firefox) - add that to still being on dial-up, and   it can take up to 5 minutes to PBS to load :-(

I've been using a bookmark that goes directly to the forums and it loads quickly, then I can go back to view my account if needed.  But if I just go to paperbackswap.com, it takes forever and often times out

I have had this problem for several weeks...have tried using chrome, firefox and IE (and, come to think of it, tried with my Kindle Fire too) with no change. Also tried logging on from home and work...it's just super slow.to load, which is one of the reasons I've hardly been around here at all lately. Very tiresome waiting and waiting...it's like the old AOL dial up days! LOL I've tried setting bookmarks on different pages and while it's a little better if I start out somewhere other than the PBS home page, it's not very much better.

Interesting that so many are having problems. Over the last few days, I've noticed occasional slowness, but most of the time haven't don't have any problems-- either from home or work, on my ipad or computer... Hope it gets better for everyone.

Well, when I first read this topic, I wasn't having thisissue. But, lately, it seems to have hit me, too. It is *most* noticeable here in the forums, although not limited here. Twice last night and three times today, I've received the message "www.paperbackswap.com is takign too long to respond.. Try again?". To my recollection, this hasn't happened more than once in the past couple of months.

It's been happening to me for weeks and I use Chrome. Takes forever to load someone's bookshelf for viewing or resorting my own. No problems with any other websites so it's gotta be a PBS problem. Has anyone tried clearing their cookies and did that solve the problem??

Clearing cookies didn't help me. I'm using Firefox. I just bring a snack when I try to get into PBS.

I clean/clear cookies at least once a week and it's made no difference . . . I'm still having the slow loading problem.  I use CometBird/Firefox.

Slow loading here too. I use both Chrome and EI7 (I think it's 7).

Hah! Missed this thread, just asked about this exact thing in CMT. I too have been having this issue for a while, with a variety of browsers. Either it's a third-party connection (eg, doubleclick) or a server issue (not necessarily a problem, could be a reconfiguration or change of host companies, et al) on PBS' end. Humbug.

I have been having the same problem as well when logging in(use chrome and IE). The only way I do not have an issue is if I go through the link on my PBS Daily WL I get by e-mail.

Yes, I am able to log on much faster through an email sent to me and then going to my account from there, rather than logging on directly to PBS.  Wonder if they are aware of this?

Not only is the site slow for me but half the images will not load either. I've tried 2 diiferent computers with 3 different browsers, all with similar results.

For those conversant in browser cookie management, I believe -- subject to further exploration of how very, very wrong I often am -- that if you keep the PBS cookie named M it affords a significantly faster login process. M is valid for one year so it would need to be released/renewed when needed. YMMV

well it was worth a shot

On some stressful, whiny days, PBS is one of the few bright spots I have - checking books in, reading the WL forum, hoping for a WL offer. It's become an absolute misery lately though. At least 3 out of 4 times, I just close out of the browser and give up. Today I thought I wouldn't be able to get in to mark mailed some books I just dropped in the box (I did get in, and it was instant credit anyway, not like they were going to beat the postal system). Still... it's something I love that's becoming a torture!

I thought it was just my dinosaur. Nice to know I am not alone.

Does anyone know if the the size of our pbs profile effects our logon?  My profile has gotten pretty big.  I wonder if it just takes that long to chew it's way thru all my crap.
