I ordered 2 Harry Potter books from the same user. When a package from her arrived, it only had 1 book in it. It was open on one end and wrapped only in grocery sack paper. She says she sent both of them together, but is there a way to check or know for sure? I used the contact us link to ask PBS for my credit back and to get to the front of the FIFO line. Is there anything else I shoud do?

Well, don't mark the one you didn't receive received - eventually it will go lost in the mail and you'll get your credit back when it does.

I only marked the one received that I actually got.

Then when the book goes lost you'll be at the front of the WL line and your credit will be returned to you. You can also ask the sender to file a claim with USPS to look for the missing book.

If you're not sure if the person actually sent it, I would check the amount of postage on it and see if it was enough for 2 books or for just one. Harry Potter books are usually pretty big and so there would probably be a difference.

You can tell whether both books were included by looking at the wrapping and the postage amount. If there was space in the package for a second book, and there's more postage than would have been needed for just one book, then you can be pretty sure she sent both. There'd be no reason for her to lie about this anyway. She's not going to get a credit for the second book unless she used PBS DC or printable postage.

Before asking to have the transaction canceled, give the sender time to reprint the label. She'll need your address from it in order to fill out the lost mail form. Once she's done that, then she can ask PBS to cancel.

What Cathy & Linda said.  The only reason for PBS Admin to become involved would be in the case of obvious fraud...such as if sending member used printable postage (received 2 credits) and the package obviously never contained the second book.  Otherwise, the system should sort out the details automatically.

PS, occasionally a sender mails in two packages, any chance that happened here?
