Four of my packages were returned today, with notes stating that for security purposes, packages over 13 oz cannot be mailed with stamps.  I know this, but 3 of the packages weighed 7 oz and the fourth was paid using electronic postage. Of course, they were also returned to my neighbor a street over, so the poor recipients must be wondering where on earth there books are.

Do I just try mailing them again?

If possible, you may want to visit your local post office and let them know the situation. It's possible one of the workers got confused about the rule and the higher ups should be notified so they can correct the mistake.

I would defintely take those into the post office and hopefully they can re-mail them since they were returned to you in error. Also, you can PM the folks who ordered the books letting the know there was delay.

Yuppers, let the Post Office sort out their own problem (maybe it will become a learning experience for somebody).
