Palin: "Yes" on federal marriage amendment; Biden: "No" on Prop. 8
Democratic vice-presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden, in this clip from "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," declares his opposition to California's constitutional marriage ban. "I think it's regressive. I think it's unfair, and so I'd vote no," said Biden, who also opposes a federal marriage ban. Meanwhile, in an interview with CBN, Republican vice-presidential candidate and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin referenced her vote in support of Alaska's constitutional marriage ban in backing a federal marriage amendment. Google/The Associated Press (10/20) , Advocate.com (10/21)

Are we surprised?

BTW, I love your "Shop Local" blinkie (static-y?)

Digression re: Palin - when I was very young, my folks had a mixed marriage - Mom was a rabid liberal, Dad a quiet moderate Republican (think Eisenhower). I grew up some, and my Mom joined my Dad in the GOP. Fast forward to my last visit, about a month ago. My once liberal Mom is now WAY conservative, but is voting for Obama. Says it scares her to even contemplate the possibility of "President Palin". Dad is still quiet, much more liberal about things, and not talking about the election - but didn't say anything about my Obama sticker!

HATE THAT WOMAN.

My father is a pretty big republican (puke).  I haven't asked him officially who he is voting for (because I don't want to hear the answer) but he was actually considering going for Obama because he is so disgusted by the Palin factor and the ridiculousness of her as a possible VP.

L - have I told you lately how much I think you rock?!?! :-)  There's nothing like reading 'she's such a turdball' and not laughing out loud! LOL (I couldn't have said it better myself)

My stepfather (republican) who never talks about his vote, told me that he early voted for Obama.  Score!

You all will love this one - last night my mother called (it's often very difficult for me to talk to her since she likes to be a martyr & isn't accepting of my my relationship).  Anyway, she veers the conversations off to politics (because she wasn't comfortable with the conversation about DP's & my relationship, lol, big mistake)  and makes mention that she's concerned about Obama's ties with being a Muslim?!?!?! HUH?!?!?!  DP looks at me (cell phone is on speaker) and mouths 'Are you sure you weren't adopted?' LOLOLOL  I immediately set her straight that Obama has attended the same denomination of church that I had worked for during the last year.  And besides, I said, what difference would it make if he was a Muslim?  She didn't have much to say to that...go figure.

:D

Mary, the level of ignorance about Obama - even this late in the game -  is unferakingbelievable.  I'm just hoping that intelligence will win for once - I am so sick of the mass stupidity of this country.

L - I couldn't agree more with you about the level of ignorance - it was just slightly shocking that it was coming from my own mother - couldn't believe what I was hearing from her, but I'm learning.  She comes up with a (dumb) blanket statement & I usually have facts to counter it - and then she just doesn't know what to say.  I guess for a lot of people it's much easier to believe the BS than to actually look stuff up.
